2008 Barclays Scottish Open

For fans that don’t get to see many of the best European golfers play, this weekend gives you just that in the 2008 Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond Golf Country Club. While many of the players in the field might be guys you never heard of, Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els, Adam Scott, and Lee Westwood are all scheduled to play. While some PGA Tour golfers decide to play this to get them prepared for the British Open, and other will even go as far as to just get there bodies use to the life overseas. There hasn’t been an American golfer to win this tournament since Tom Lehman did so back in 1997, so Mickelson has at least that to play for. The last to guys to win this tournament come into this weekend and big underdogs to win it this year, and that should let everyone know that its anyones ball game this weekend. We have took some extra time to look into this event, Jason Lowry is going to give you his weekly 3 golfers to perform well, European style.
Favorite: Adam Scott- 12/1 odds at Bodoglife.com
If you don’t know much about this kid than you better get ready, cause we only think its a matter of time before this guy is not only wins a major, but is considered one of the best golf has to offer. Scott is currently the leader in greens in regulation and putting average, which means if the driver can even come close to the fairway this guy is going to run away with this thing. Scott has 1 win on the European Tour while fitting in time to play PGA events as well. We think Scott gets things rolling right in time for the British Open the following week.
Middle of the Pack: Miguel Angel Jimenez - 33/1 odds at Bodoglife.com
Now if you are talking European tour, this guy is one of the best it has to offer. While we aren’t quite sure why this guys odds are what they are, we do know that this guy is leader on the money list, which means he has plenty of big finishes this season. So if you are looking for a guy to sneak up on the favorites, we think Jimenez is the way to go.
Long Shot: Oliver Wilson - 50/1 odds at Bodoglife.com
Here is another guy that had us wondering why he was picked to do so well this weekend, but afte a closer look we just think they got it wrong. Wilson is currently 4th on the money list, and while this guy has yet to cash in a first place finish this season, he has just missed with four 2nd place finishes already. Don’t count Wilson out this weekend, as he will be in it when Sunday rolls around.
