2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic Predictions & Odds

January 15, 2008

Even without Tigers Woods at the 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic there will still be a decent field for the five-round pro-am event. If you are interested in doing any golf betting on this week’s tournament then you should note Mike Weir is the favorite.

Weir won this event back in 2003 and finished fourth at the Mercedes-Benz Championship earlier this month. Now Weir isn’t the favorite that you would normally come to expect out of PGA events since Woods is listed at even money at most events, so you might be surprised to see 12/1 as the “worst” odds you can get this weekend. If you plan on placing some cash down on this Canadian though you should note that he shot 76 in last year’s final-round.

Justin Leonard is another past champion and he’s getting the second heaviest odds this week at 14/1. He won back in 2005. The 2006 champion is listed at 16/1 in Chad Campbell, and he’s joined on the list by Scott Verplank. Stewart Cink, Lucas Glover and Heath Slocum are all getting 25/1.

Last year’s champion is Charley Hoffman and he is getting 35/1 odds for a chance to go back-to-back. Last year Hoffman just barely beat out John Rollins in 2007, and Rollins comes in here at 55/1. Three other past champions are in the field and you can get some nice underdog odds on all of them. Jesper Parnevik is at 55/1, Joe Durant is at 60/1, and Fred Couples is now 70/1, but all of these guys are long shots to win.
