2008 Buick Open Predictions

Written by

The PGA Tour is at it again this week, and Jason Lowry is ready to make his 2008 Buick Open predictions. The event is set to take place at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Glan Blanc, Michigan. While many of the fans are likely disappointed with the news that Tiger Woods is done for the season, it give many golfers a much greater chance to win, including this weekend at the Buick Open where Tiger has won 2 times in his career. There has been a trend of long hitters doing well at Warwick Hills, and besides that it is one of the favorite spots for many players to play. After many of the big names took last week off after the grueling tole the US Open takes on you, Stewart Cink was able to grab his first win of the season with a 1 shot victory over Hunter Mahan and Tommy Armour III. While this tournament has been won by many of golfs big names over the last few years, Brian Bateman reminded everyone that anyone can win after his performance last year. With that said Jason Lowry is ready to make his 2008 Buick Open Predictions by taking a look at 3 golfers he think has a good shot of winning this weekend.

Favorite: Jim Furyk – 10/1 odds
This is a course Furyk has seemed to play well on throughout his career, as he finished tied for 5th last year, and was the runner-up in 2006. Not to mention he won the whole thing in 2003. Even though Furyk has struggled of late with his best finish in his last 4 starts being a tie for 27th at the Players Championship, Furyk does have 6 top 10 wins this season, and you can’t deny the success he has had here.

Middle of the Pack: Brandt Snedeker – 25/1 odds
While Snedeker doesn’t have the greatest numbers his most recent 9th place finish at the US Open really liking this guys game. Snedeker does have 4 other top 10 finish, including a masterful 3rd place finish at the Masters. We look for Snedeker to tear up the course this week and have a good shot at winning the whole thing.

Long Shot: Rocco Mediate – 50/1 odds
There is plenty to like about this pick, as who can deny how good this guy looked at the US Open. With the course set for low scores, why not Rocco to put up some big time numbers, i mean this is the same guy that was the only other person to make Torrey Pines look easy besides Tiger Woods. If you’re looking for a great underdog with some big time odds in your favor, take Mediate to win over the hearts of everyone once again. Plus he won this tournament back in 2000.
