2008 Centurion Boats at the Glenn Picks

Written August 6, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Its getting down to the wire and each race means more than the last, last week Carl Edwards was able to get some of his thunder back with a solid win at the Brickyard, and the rest of the field chasing the points leader Kyle Busch got some much needed help when Busch wound up finishing the race near the end of the pack. This week is a different story and many drivers could be making another big climb towards securing their spot in the top 12, as we head to the 2008 Centurion Boats at the Glenn. The Glenn is the 2nd and final road course race of the season, and while a few top drivers still have a great chance of winning this weekend, guys you rarely hear much about will be in full force this weekend, as guys like Montoya and Robby Gordon excel in road races. To help you see just who the odds makers are predicting for a good finish, check out Jason Lowry’s quick look at the favorites this weekend.

Jeff Gordon +450 at Sportsbook.com
Gordon like Stewart is still itching for that first win in 2008, and it would come to no surprise to anyone if this guy comes out and grabs it this weekend, as he has 9 career wins on road courses and 4 here at Watkins Glenn International.

Tony Stewart +450 at Sportsbook.com
What’s not to like about this guy this weekend, as not only is Stewart one of the best road course drivers of today, he has simply dominated this course. In the last 6 years Stewart has racked up 4 wins, and what better place to get his first win of 2008. Stewart is a real threat this weekend, and a big finish here could really help his causes in securing a spot in the top 12.

Juan Pablo Montoya +800 at Sportsbook.com
Montoya is one of those drivers that you really never hear that much about, as he sits in 25th in the points standing right now, but he has come through with a win on a road course before, and thats reason enough to like this guy this weekend. In his first race here at Glenn International things didn’t go so well as wound up in an accident, but don’t judge off that race as this guy could easily take home the checkered flag this weekend.

Kyle Busch +800 at Sportsbook.com
Busch has dominated this season with 7 wins, and he has done so on almost every type of race track, including a very impressive win at the first road race of the season at the Toyota/Save Mart 350 earlier this weekend. This guy is a serious threat each and every week, and don’t be surprised if he comes away with another win and continue on his way to winning the 2008 points champion.

Robby Gordon +1000 at Sportsbook.com
Gordon really isn’t a threat any other week unless the drivers are lining up on a road course, as this guy has grabbed 2 wins on road courses in his career, including a win at this track back in 2003. On top of all that Gordon has finishing in the top 5 seven times in his last 9 times he has started his engine at Watkins Glenn International.

Think any of these favorites has what it takes to take home the checkered flag this weekend? If so, get over to Sportsbook.com and get your bets in today.
