2008 Final Four Predictions

Online Sports Betting at Sportsbook

Our picks are in and the scene is set for San Antonio, TX for the Final Four with #2 Tennessee vs. #2 Georgetown and #1 Memphis vs. #1 UCLA. All four of these teams spent time in the top 5 and most as the best team in the nation and should set up for one of the best Final Four’s in recent history if our picks come true. This will also see two teams for last year making repeat trips to the Final Four as UCLA and Georgetown both made it this far last year. The two games will be the first time these teams face one another which should lead to some close exciting games. So lets get to the point and pick our two teams to play for the National Championship and then our team to cut down the nets in 2008.

#2 Georgetown vs. #2 Tennessee

This will make for a very interesting match up as Tennessee loves to run up and down the floor using its speed and quickness to beat you, while Georgetown likes a much slower pace with in your face defense and a inside out game that can beat you both ways. Both these teams could have been #1 seeds, but both lost in their respected conference tournaments. So you might wonder why we have them this far, the thing is we like that late loss right before the NCAA Tournament to get you team refocused and ready to make one last run to end the season. We think Tennessee is better than people think and will finally get the attention they deserve when they take town Georgetown in a game that should come down to the wire.

#1 Memphis vs. #1 UCLA

These two #1 seeds just might have had the easiest path to the Final Four and could be well rested if they are able to pull off some big wins in their first two games of the tournament. Both these teams are coming in red-hot riding 10 game winning streaks, but one of them will have to come to an end. Unlike the other game this game will see a ton of points scored from both teams and it could come down to whoever gets the ball last and has the chance to hit the game winning shot. The Bruins have been so close the last couple of years, and we believe that they got the missing piece in freshmen sensation Kevin Love who will enter the tournament averaging a double-double with 17 PPG and 10.5 RPG. UCLA will barely outscore the Tigers and move on to play for the National Championship.

National Championship: #2 Tennessee vs. #1 UCLA

This game will be one to remember as the season will finally be over and champion will be crowned. The near month long tournament will have seen some memorable moments and upsets we can’t even see coming, but when it’s all said and done these are the two teams we think have what it takes to be called the best team of 2008. UCLA will continue to ride Love’s game, while Tennessee will continue to count on sophomore Tyler Smith who will come into the tournament leading the team in both rebounding and assists alongside his 13.6 PPG. The deciding factor in this one will be Tennessee’s lack of a post player and how well they shoot from the outside. UCLA will run everything through the big man creating open shots and a go to guy when they need a bucket down low. So with that said we are predicting the UCLA Bruins as your NCAA Tournament winners and college basketball’s 2008 National Champions.
