2008 Preakness Stakes Prop Betting

While its easy to get carried away with betting on the race itself, we thought that it would be fun to take a look at some of the prop bets you can make on this year’s Preakness Stakes besides the actual race itself. Thanks to Bodoglife.com we were able to find some interesting prop bets that you might end up finding worth the risk when you get ready for the race this weekend. This year it looks as thought there is little doubt that Big Brown is going to fail to win after his performance at the Kentucky Derby. So if you are like us and believe all the hype on this horse than you might want to give prop betting a chance. This is a great way to get some extra action on the race. This is an interesting prop depending on how you look at it. There hasn’t been a Triple Crown winner since 1978 and only 11 have ever done it. So if you simply play it by the odds and bet NO your odds of winning are pretty good. This bet requires a little patience, as you will have to wait a few weeks to get your picks in.
Will the Winner of the Kentucky Derby (Big Brown) win the Preakness Stakes?
YES -400
NO +275
This bet gives you a chance to take the rest of the field against Big Brown and while its hard to think that this horse can lose, if you are planning on taking any other horse this could be an additional bet you might want to take a look at.
Will Big Brown win the 2008 Preakness by a greater or less margin than the 4 ¾ lengths he won the Kentucky Derby by?
Over 4 ¾ lengths +125
Under 4 ¾ lengths -165
This is another interesting line to look at, cause if you don’t like big brown to win then you easily take the under. If you want to take a chance you can take the over, but if you want our advice take the UNDER or nothing. You never know what crazy thing could happen on race day.
Will all the NBC announcers pick Big Brown to win the Preakness Stakes?
YES -330
NO +230
When we first looked at this bet we laughed at it because we didn’t think anyone would go against Big Brown. Then we started thinking about it a little more and it wouldn’t be that shocking to see one guy up there try and be a hero and pick an underdog to win the race. The more we think about it the more we kind of like taking NO here.

This is a very interesting prop if you are looking at testing your betting skills and racing knowledge. Since we got Behindathebar our pick to finish 2nd behind Big Brown, then he would have to be our pick here.
