The PGA Tour finished up its time in Florida for the time being and will travel to the wonderful state of Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The tournament is set to take place on the TPC Louisiana golf course in Avondale, LA on March 27 - March 30. Last week golf fans witnessed something unusual as of late, as Tiger Woods was unable to win at the CA Championship. Geoff Ogilvy was able to weather the conditions for the win. While the field isn’t as strong as the last two weeks there will still be some great golfers playing this week. Including Jim Furyk, Steve Stricker, Retief Goosen, and Padraig Harrington. Nick Watney will be looking to defend his championship, as he was able to take home a 3 shot victory in 2007. So lets take a look at a favorite, middle of the pack, and a long shot we think will do well this week at the Zurich Classic.

Favorite: Retief Goosen 20-1 at Sportsbook.com

We are going with the South African this week, as he is coming off his two best finishes of the season. Last week he finished tied for 2nd at the CA Championship, and the week before finished tied for 14th at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. While Goosen struggled to start the season he really started to look like he has his game going in the right direction last weekend. He started making a few more putts and hitting it a little bit closer to the hole on his approach shots. One area that still needs some improvement is in his driving, he currently is ranked 152nd in total driving. This will be a big week for Goosen as it will probably be his last stop before the Masters, so look for Goosen to come out firing away and take home the trophy this week.

Middle of the Pack: Zach Johnson 30-1 at Sportsbook.com

Here is another guy that really got his game going last week at the CA Championship. He had his first top 10 finish of the season after a poor start to the 2008 season. Johnson started to get his game going last year right around this time, as he was able to win the Masters in 2007. Johnson has really struggled off the tee and on the greens this year as he is currently 118th in total driving and 103rd in putting average. Like Goosen he looked a lot better last week and we really feel he will continue to get better as the Masters approach. So Take Johnson as a sleeper this week that could finally get on the board in 2008.

Long Shot: Nick Watney 50-1 at Sportsbook.com

We had to give the defending champion some credit this week, and with odds at 50-1 why wouldn’t you? Watney really looked like he had things figured out at the Arnold Palmer Invitational before falling back and finishing tied for 21st. Watney is due for a break out performance as he has been pretty good all around this year. He is currently 40th in total driving and 59th in putting. We really like this guys game and feel like if he can avoid some big scores he will be in the hunt again this year at the Zurich Classic.
