2009 Buffalo Bills Schedule

Written May 11, 2009 by Steve Janus

2009-buffalo-bills-scheduleNow that the 2009 NFL season projected win totals are out, I thought it was about time to start looking at each team’s schedule and mapping out where their potential wins and losses might be.  A more complete team analysis for the Buffalo Bills is on the way later this summer, but for now we can teak a quick look and their 2009 match ups and see what is in store.  The Bills projected win total is set for 7.5.  If you’d like to bet that, head over to BetUS, where they are offering a $500 match bonus on initial deposits of $500 or more, exclusive for our readers!

The Bills pre-season schedule starts out with the Hall of Fame Game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, August 9th.  From there they play in Buffalo against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, August 15th, before a two game road trip that takes them to Green Bay (Saturday, August 22nd) and Pittsburgh (Saturday, August 29th).  The Bills round out their pre-season at home against the Detroit Lions on Thursday, September 3rd.  If you are looking to go to a game, StubHub has 2009 Buffalo Bills tickets available!

Week 1 – Monday, September 14th at the New England Patriots:  The Bills open up their regular season on Monday Night Football.  Unfortunately for them, it looks like they open up with a loss against the Pats.

Week 2 – Sunday, September 20th at home against the Tampa Bay Bucs:  Tampa has started to rebuild their roster, as well as their team philosophy.  Bills win their home opener with the Bucs still finding their identity.

Week 3 – Sunday, September 27th at home against the New Orleans Saints:  The Saints under-achieved last year, particularly on the road.  This is a game that Buffalo should win.

Week 4 – Sunday, October 4th at the Miami Dolphins:  The Bills lost both meetings last season, one at home and one on the road.  I expect them to lose in Miami this season as well.

Week 5- Sunday, October 11th at home versus the Cleveland Browns:  The Browns stole one from the Bills last season, beating them in Buffalo.  The Bills get their revenge and pick up a win over Cleveland on their home field in 2009.

Week 6 – Sunday, October 18th at the New York Jets:  The Bills struggled in two games against the Jets last season.  This isn’t a game I see them winning.

Week 7 – Sunday, October 25th at Carolina Panthers:  The Panthers are monsters at home.  Chalk this up as another Buffalo loss.

Week 8 – Sunday, November 1st at home against the Houston Texans:  The Bills were just 3-5 in Buffalo last season.  With the Texans continuing to improve, I see Houston picking up a tough road victory here.

Week 9 – BYE

Week 10 – Sunday, November 15th at the Tennessee Titans:  The Bills do not match up well with the Titans.  Tennessee won’t be as good as last year, but they will still be good, and better than Buffalo, particularly with the Bills on the road.  Mark this game as a loss for Buffalo.

Week 11 – Sunday, November 22nd at the Jacksonville Jaguars:  The Jags weren’t nearly as bad as their 5-11 record last year, but they were just 2-6 in Jacksonville last year.  This is a game the Bills can win.

Week 12 – Sunday, November 29th at home against the Miami Dolphins:  With a little luck the Bills pick up a win here in Buffalo.  The spread should be around a field goal either way, so expect a close one and the Bills to come out on top.

Week 13 – Thursday, December 3rd at home against the New York Jets:  The Bills were ranked 22nd in rush defense last season, the Jets were 7th in rush offense.  That match up does not sit well.  Buffalo losses another one at home.

Week 14 – Sunday, December 13th at the Kansas City Chiefs:  The Chiefs are starting to move things in the right direction, but they are probably still a few years away from any drastic improvement.  Bills pick up a road win in KC.

Week 15 – Sunday, December 20th at home against the New England Patriots:  The Patriots are still too good for the Bills, even in Buffalo.  I’m marking this as a loss.

Week 16 – Sunday, December 27th at the Atlanta Falcons:  The Bills were better on the road than at home last season, but the Falcons were 7-1 at home.  While Atlanta probably over-achieved in 2008, they should still hand the Bills a loss in Week 16.

Week 17 – Sunday, January 3rd at home against the Indianapolis Colts:  I’m making an assumption here that the Colts make the playoffs in 2009 and rest their starters against the Bills, allowing them to win in their final home game of the year.

“Should” is the key word there. I’ll bet you they don’t win it! Take the Saints if you’re smart.

Bills get swept by the no QB JETS? HA! Don’t think so.
