Indianapolis Colts Schedule 2009
Written May 26, 2009 by Steve Janus
We continue our look at the 2009 NFL schedule, staying in the AFC South with the Indianapolis Colts. According to the projected 2009 NFL team win totals, the Colts are expected to be one of the toughest teams in the league this year as their under/over for wins has been posted at 10.5, third-best behind the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Here we will take a look at their upcoming season schedule and identify the games they are most likely projected to win, and those they are expected to lose. If you want to bet the NFL this season, or you’re just looking for a great deal at the web’s #1 sportsbook, head over to BetUS, tell them Betfirms set you, deposit $500 or more, and get another $500 to bet with this NFL season! You can’t go wrong with that!
The Colts have four total pre-season games scheduled for 2009. They start out with back-to-back home games the first on Friday, August 14th against the Minnesota Vikings, followed by meeting on Thursday, August 20th against the Philadelphia Eagles. From there Indy heads to Detroit on Saturday, August 29th to battle the Lions, and finally to Cincinnati on Thursday, September 19th to play the Bengals. For tickets to Indianapolis Colts games, or for any other team, this season we recommend StubHub for the best prices on the best available seats!
2009 Indianapolis Colts Regular Season Schedule
Week 1 - Sunday, September 13th at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars – The Colts lost their home-opener to the Bears last season, do not expect them to lose it again in 2009. Indianapolis starts off the season with a win.
Week 2 - Monday, September 21st at the Miami Dolphins – You’d have to go back to 2002 for the last time the Dolphins beat the Colts. They don’t play often, but Indy usually comes out on top when they do. Colts win on Monday Night Football.
Week 3 - Sunday, September 27th at the Arizona Cardinals – The Cardinals made an incredible run to the Super Bowl last season, but the magic won’t carry over to 2009. Colts notch another win.
Week 4 - Sunday, October 4th at home against the Seattle Seahawks – Seattle ranked 32nd in the league (that’s dead-last) in passing yards allowed last season. The Colts racked up the 5th most yards of any team in the NFL through the air last year. Looks like another Indy win to me.
Week 5 - Sunday, October 11th at the Tennessee Titans – The Colts’ biggest weakness last year was rush defense. They’ll face one of the top rushing teams in the league on the road here. Titans hand the Colts their first loss of the season.
Week 6 - BYE
Week 7 – Sunday, October 25th at the St. Louis Rams – The Rams ranked near the bottom in every major statistical category on both offense and defense last year. It’s hard to imagine them being any worse this season, but they certainly aren’t likely to pull off a victory over a strong Indianapolis team.
Week 8 - Sunday, November 1st at home against the San Francisco 49ers – The Niners are improved, but it’s a big leap for them to win on the road at Indy. I’ll take the Colts in this match up.
Week 9 - Sunday, November 8th at home against the Houston Texans – The Texans always play Indy close, but the Colts come away with a hard-fought victory on their home field.
Week 10 - Sunday, November 15th at home against the New England Patriots – It’s hard to go against the Patriots this season, but it’s harder to go against the Colts at home. Indianapolis sneaks by with a victory.
Week 11 – Sunday, November 22nd at the Baltimore Ravens – The Ravens are a force at home. After a 3-game homestand ending with the Patriots, hitting the road to face Baltimore will be a tall order. In the end I see the Ravens bringing home the victory here.
Week 12 - Sunday, November 29th at the Houston Texans – It’s probably another close game, but in the end I’m sticking with the Colts in this match up.
Week 13 - Sunday, December 6th at home against the Tennessee Titans – Here’s a chance for the Colts to get some revenge on a team that beat them earlier in the season. Unfortunately, I just don’t think the Colts match up well with the Titans. Mark this one as a loss.
Week 14 - Sunday, December 13th at home against the Denver Broncos – I expect Denver to be one of the most inconsistent teams in the league with all of the changes they have made. Colts at home make this an easy call on Indy.
Week 15 – Thursday, December 17th at the Jacksonville Jaguars – The Jags will be a better team this season. I’m picking them to upset the Colts in Jacksonville this year.
Week 16 - Sunday, December 27th at home against the New York Jets – Back at home and on long rest I’ll take the Colts over the Jets.
Week 17 - Sunday, January 3rd at the Buffalo Bills- The Colts should be locked into the playoffs at this point, the Bills may actually have something to play for. Chalk this up as a loss as long as the Colts have an automatic bid in the AFC.

Got something to say?

I agree with all your picks but one. Being from Maryland and a huge colts fan, I need for the colts to beat the ravens and badly. I’m surrounded by their loud mouth fans. The colts need to shut them down on their home field and I will be there to witness it.
