Kansas City Chiefs 2009 Schedule

Written June 8, 2009 by InfoPlays

2009-kansas-city-chiefs-scheduleThe Chiefs’ 2-14 record in 2008 didn’t speak for how well they played. Kansas City just couldn’t pull out the close games. The Chiefs lost 7 contests last season by 7 points or less. They took some very good teams right down to the wire, including the Pats, Jets, Dolphins and the Chargers twice. Odds makers predict the Chiefs to win 5.5 games this season. Let’s see if they can turn some of those close losses into wins under a new head coach and a new QB in Matt Cassel.  See all of the 2009 NFL projected win totals for the upcoming season.  If you plan on betting the NFL this fall, you owe it to yourself to take advantage of our $500 match bonus with BetUS.  Just open a new account, deposit at least $500, and you’ll get a $500 bonus!

Kansas City kicks off their pre-season schedule at home against the Houston Texans on August 15th. Six days later they hit the road to take on the Atlanta Falcons on August 21st. The Chiefs’ final home game of the pre-season takes place on August 29th against the Seattle Seahawks. They close out the pre-season with a September 3rd meeting at the St. Louis Rams which is just a short bus trip away.  Pick up your 2009 Kansas City Chiefs’ tickets at StubHub!

Week 1 - Sunday, September 13th at the Baltimore Ravens – A tough game to start the season against the Ravens on the road results in a Chiefs’ loss.

Week 2 - Sunday, September 20th at home against the Oakland Raiders – Kansas City gets their first taste of victory at home against the lowly Raiders.

Week 3 - Sunday, September 27th at the Philadelphia Eagles – Philly puts a beating on Kansas City in Week 3 to earn the win.

Week 4 - Sunday, October 4th at home against the New York Giants – The Chiefs hang tough, but the Giants are the superior team and will be favored so we’ll side with New York.

Week 5 - Sunday, October 11th at home against the Dallas Cowboys – Another winnable home game for the Chiefs, but Dallas is the favorite and we’ll ride the chalk.

Week 6 - Sunday, October 18th at the Washington Redskins – Washington wins a close one at home and utilizes their running game to ware down this young Chiefs’ defense.

Week 7 - Sunday, October 25th at home against the San Diego Chargers – K.C. did play San Diego tough last season, but the Chargers will be ready because of it and San Diego wins.

Week 9 - Sunday, November 8th at the Jacksonville Jaguars – K.C. continues their losing streak with a loss in Jacksonville. Not even a bye week can save them here.

Week 10 – Sunday, November 15th at the Oakland Raiders – Oakland returns the favor and protects home field for a divisional victory.

Week 11 - Sunday, November 22nd at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers – I don’t see the Chiefs quite ready to beat the defending champs, not even at home, so Pittsburgh gets the nod.

Week 12 – Sunday, November 29th at the San Diego Chargers – A 9-game losing streak is the result of this tough road games against the Bolts.

Week 13 - Sunday, December 6th at home against the Denver Broncos – Kansas City stops the bleeding at Arrowhead and beats up on Denver at home, just like they did a year ago.

Week 14 - Sunday, December 13th at home against the Buffalo Bills – Another winnable game for the Chiefs as they beat T.O. and company on their home field in Week 14.

Week 15 - Sunday, December 20th at home against the Cleveland Browns – A 3-game winning streak is the result of this contest against the lowly Browns at Arrowhead.

Week 16 - Sunday, December 27th at the Cincinnati Bengals – K.C. could win this game, but the Bengals will be the favorite so I’ll back the home team.

Week 17 - Sunday, January 3rd at the Denver Broncos – Denver has a field day at home to beat the Chiefs in Week 17.

Just going by who should be favored, I have the Chiefs finishing at 4-12 in 2009. But I doubt the Chiefs lose every game they are the underdog, like they did last season. K.C. should be able to learn from their mistakes and sneak out another close win or two, but if you made me choose I’d side with the UNDER 5.5 wins for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009. I’ll be staying away from it though considering the Chiefs are clearly the sleeper in this division.
