2009 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Schedule

Written May 28, 2009 by InfoPlays

2009-tampa-bay-bucs-scheduleThe Bucs started 9-3 last season before collapsing down the stretch and losing their final 4 games to miss the playoffs. Had they won any of those 4 contests, Tampa Bay would have been a post-season participant in 2008. This debacle led to a coaching change and many personnel changes as we head into the 2009 season. Odds makers are predicting a rebuilding year in Tampa and for good reason. The Bucs’ 2009 projected NFL win total sits at 6.5 games. Let’s see if they can exceed those expectations in 2009.  If you are looking to bet the NFL this season, why not sign up for an account with BetUS?  Our readers currently get a $500 match bonus for $500 deposits!

Tampa Bay kicks off their pre-season schedule with a road game at Tennessee as they take on the Titans August 15th. The Bucs then travel to the Jacksonville Jaguars on August 22nd. They finish up the pre-season with back-to-back home games August 27th against the Miami Dolphins and then September 4th facing the Houston Texans.  Get your 2009 Tampa Bay Bucs tickets at StubHub!

Week 1 - Sunday, September 13th at home against the Dallas Cowboys – Both teams are rebuilding a bit, but the Cowboys will have a lot less holes to fill in the first week of the season and they’ll pick up a big road win to start the year.

Week 2 - Sunday, September 20th at the Buffalo Bills – Buffalo will be a force to be reckoned with this season in the AFC East and they’ll prove it here with a dominant home win.

Week 3 - Sunday, September 27th at home against the New York Giants – The Giants have proven to be one of the best road teams in the league, and won’t be tamed in Tampa. An 0-3 start for the Bucs won’t look too promising.

Week 4 - Sunday, October 4th at the Washington Redskins – Tampa won’t quite be ready to win on the road just yet, but they’ll hang tough as the Redskins milk the clock with their running game in the 4th quarter.

Week 5 - Sunday, October 11th at the Philadelphia Eagles – Philly continues to be a Super Bowl contender year in and year out and will not lose to the helpless Bucs in this one at home.

Week 6 - Sunday, October 18th at home against the Carolina Panthers – Tampa picks up their first win of the season in this AFC South rivalry.

Week 7 - Sunday, October 25th at home against the New England Patriots – The Bucs’ win streak ends at 1 game as Tom Brady and company put up too many points for Tampa to compete.

Week 9 - Sunday, November 8th at home against the Green Bay Packers – Tampa uses their bye week to their advantage and put their first complete game together to earn a big home win against the Pack.

Week 10 - Sunday, November 15th at the Miami Dolphins – The Dolphins continue playing smash mouth football and run wild on the this Tampa defense to get the win.

Week 11 - Sunday, November 22nd at home against the New Orleans Saints – The Bucs return home to earn their biggest victory of the season, forcing turnovers and coming away with a close win.

Week 12 – Sunday, November 29th at the Atlanta Falcons – The Falcons take a step back this season, but still the Bucs don’t have enough to win on the road here.

Week 13 - Sunday, December 6th at the Carolina Panthers – Carolina gets their revenge against the Bucs in a blowout.

Week 14 - Sunday, December 13th at home against the New York Jets – Tampa takes down Rex Ryan and the new-look Jets in a close one down south.

Week 15 - Sunday, December 20th at the Seattle Seahawks – The Bucs hang tough with Seattle, but the Seahawks will be favored at home here and I’ll side with the home team.

Week 16 - Sunday, December 27th at the New Orleans Saints – The Saints win a shootout in the dome to get payback on Tampa in a must-win for New Orleans.

Week 17 - Sunday, January 3rd at home against the Atlanta Falcons – I see Atlanta taking a step back this season and missing the playoffs, so I’ll side with the home team here as both squads have little to play for.

I have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers winning 5 games in 2009, so I would have to side with the UNDER 6.5 wins that the odds makers are predicting. Chances are they steal a road win somewhere along the way, but I don’t see the Bucs having a chance at 7 wins with this very tough schedule.  Get all of my NFL picks this fall at the InfoPlays capper page!
