2009-10 Milwaukee Bucks Predictions

Written October 23, 2009 by Jack Jones

The Milwaukee Bucks were able to put together a 34-48 record last season despite an array of injuries, so there are some who are optimistic this team can build on that total for the 2009-10 season.  I’m not one of them however as the loss of Richard Jefferson to the Spurs and Charlie Villaneuva to the Pistons shows that this team is focused on rebuilding.  Scott Skiles is a great coach for a young team, but he would have to work some real magic for this team to make the playoffs.  The Bucks are 150-to-1 to win the East, and 200-to-1 to win the NBA Finals according to the latest NBA odds.  Their win total projections have been set at a lowly 26.5.  If you are going to do any NBA betting this season, take a look at the $500 signup bonus being offered by BetUS Sportsbook!

Backcourt

Veteran Luke Ridnour will start the season out as the starting point guard, but if the team struggles look for him to have a short leash as the Bucks look to develop rookie Brandon Jennings.  There is a lot of promise surrounding Jennings as he spent a year in Italy after high school instead of going to college here in the States.  It’s once again Michael Redd’s team, but after a season in which he only appeared in 33 games and in which his scoring dropped down to 21.2 ppg, it’ll be interesting to see how he bounces back.  Charlie Bell will back up Redd, but the team is hoping that second-round Jodie Meeks develops into another solid outside shooter.

Frontcourt

Luc Richard Mbah a Moute is the starting forward and he was a pleasant surprise a year ago, mainly becuase he was able to play in all 82 games.  He is a smart player who plays hard.  Hakim Warrick can play the three and the four spots and he should increase his production now as a starter.  He came off the bench to put up 11.6 points per game last year in Memphis.  Andrew Bogut showed flashes of brilliance last year when he averaged 11.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, but he only appeared in 36 games.  He’s going to need to stay on the floor and continue to develop if the team is going to compete.  Amir Johnson came over in the Jefferson trade, and since this is a contract year you can expect him to perform at a high level in order to increase his pay day.  Joe Alexander worked hard this summer to improve his game, and he did show some promise down the stretch after struggling for most of his rookie campaign.  Ersan Ilyasova returns from a two-year stint in Europe.  He gives teams fits with his 6′10″ frame being able to shoot a very high percentage from 3-point range.

Summary

This season should be used to develop young players and Skiles in one of the best coaches in the business to do just that.  Getting Bogut and Redd to play a bunch of games and stay healthy would help, but with our NBA predictions we can’t take this team out of the basement of the Central Division.  If you are going to bet then why not give yourself a better chance of winning by signing up for the NBA picks offered by our experts?
