2010 Louisville College Football Predictions - July 30, 2010

The Louisville athletic department ousted Steve Kragthorpe as head coach following a third straight losing season.  Former Florida Gators defensive coordinator Charlie Strong took over the position and brought an entirely new staff with him.  Cardinal fans are notorious for showing their passion in the basketball stands, but a clean slate gives them reason to travel and check out the football team in 2010.  Strong has his work cut out for him with only 12 starters returning from last year’s...

What a weekend it was for the No.1 car of Jamie McMurray, who won the Brickyard 400 for his second win of the season. If you don’t remember McMurray won the Daytona 500 to start the season, giving him two wins at arguably the two biggest events of the season. McMurry and the rest of the field are set to race again this weekend at the 2010 Pennsylvania 500 at Pocono Raceway in Long Pond, Pennsylvania. 2010 Syracuse College Football Predictions - July 29, 2010

The Syracuse Orange finished 2009 with a 4-8 record that included wins over Rutgers and Northwestern.  Head coach Doug Marrone enters his second season rebuilding a program that once competed for Big East championships on an annual basis.  The former offensive coordinator with the New Orleans Saints will call his own plays this season.   15 starters (10 on defense) return to try and lead the Orange back to a bowl game for the first time since the 04’ season.  Syracuse cannot afford a setback...

2010 Kentucky Football Predictions - July 29, 2010

The Kentucky Wildcats had a productive 2009 campaign in which they went 7-6 and participated in the Music City Bowl, a 13-21 loss to Clemson. Kentucky relied heavily on an underrated defense, because for the most part their offense was non-existent for much of the season. The Wildcats will be breaking in a new head coach in Joker Phillips, and this team will have a chance to surprise some folks in 2010. Returning are 5 offensive and 7 defensive starters. The team expects to be better offensively,...

South Florida College Football Predictions 2010 - July 28, 2010

The South Florida Bulls reached great heights under the leadership of former head coach Jim Leavitt.  A 95-57 record at USF could not keep him in control after rumors surfaced of an altercation with a player.  School officials acted quickly by convincing East Carolina’s Skip Holtz to move South and become the new head for the Bulls.  The son of former Notre Dame coach Lou Holtz should have this team winning immediately with 15 returning starters including 10 on offense from last season’s eight...

2010 Illinois College Football Predictions - July 28, 2010

When Ron Zook took over a struggling Illinois program five years ago he probably envisioned it would have gone a little better than the 44-53 record he has compiled.  The Fighting Illini always seem to have the talent to win in the Big Ten, but for one reason or another have not put it all together despite a Rose Bowl appearance in 2007.  Not much is expected from the 2010 squad as they break in a new quarterback and return only 12 starters from a three win team last season.  Odds currently sit...

California College Football Predictions 2010 - July 28, 2010

The Cal Golden Bears have turned into one of the top programs in the Pac 10 under the direction of Jeff Tedford.  To get over the hump they will have to come up with a plan to defeat in state rival USC, something they haven’t done in six years.  There is plenty of talent returning for the Bears this season with 14 starters back from the eight win team a year ago.  The Bears could be a dark horse candidate in the conference with a veteran quarterback leading the way and a strong rushing attack. ...

2010 Rutgers College Football Predictions - July 28, 2010

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights look to keep chopping wood in 2010 under one of the best coaches in college football Greg Schiano.  A somewhat surprising 9-4 record from a team with high expectations ended with a dominating bowl win over UCF that gives the Scarlet faithful reason for optimism this season.  Only 12 starters return, but sophomore QB Tom Savage is one of the top young guns in the Big East.  Schiano has built a successful program around hard work and over achievers.  This might not be...

2010 East Carolina College Football Predictions - July 28, 2010

After going 9-5 in Skip Holtz’s final season as head coach, and then beating Houston in the CUSA title game, the Pirates season ended when they were edged out by the Arkansas Razorbacks 20-17, on Alex Tejada’s 37-yard field goal in overtime in the 2009 Liberty Bowl. East Carolina failed to seal the deal after kicker Ben Hartman missed two field goal attempts late in regulation and another in the extra session. Now newly appointed Ruffin McNeill will take the reigns looking to bring his...

2010 Iowa Football Predictions - July 27, 2010

The Iowa Hawkeyes are coming off a very successful season in which they went 11-2 and finished tied for second in the Big Ten. The only games they lost were when QB Ricky Stanzi was out due to injury, and had they beaten Northwestern (L 10-17) or Ohio State (L 24-27 OT), they would have won the Big Ten. Iowa did make a BCS Bowl, beating Georgia Tech 24-14 in the Orange Bowl. The Hawkeyes are primed to make another run at a Big Ten title this season with 6 offensive and 8 defensive starters back....

2010 Greenbrier Classic Predictions - July 27, 2010

The PGA Tour welcomes a new tournament to the schedule this week, as the pros will head to White Solphur Springs, West Virginia for the 2010 Greenbrier Classic. The event will take place at the Old White Course at the Greenbrier resort. The course is a par 70 and unlike many courses it finishes up with a par 3 on No.18. The key to playing well this week will not be hitting the ball a mile off the tee, as the course is relatively short, but instead it will be putting yourself in good spots off the...

2010 Houston Football Predictions - July 27, 2010

After finishing 6-2 in conference play and taking first in the CUSA West, the Cougars’ ran into a major roadblock, capping off a 10-4 overall season with a 47-20 shellacking by Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl. The Cougars offense put up huge numbers and along with quarterback Case Keenum’s benchmark year at quarterback; Houston became the fourth team in NCAA history to have three receivers with over 1,000 yards receiving last season. But the defense was another story. The big question now...

2010 Oklahoma Football Predictions - July 26, 2010

The Oklahoma Sooners took a step back last season, but injuries certainly didn’t help matters. QB Sam Bradford and TE Jermaine Gresham among others went down in the most disappointing season in the Bob Stoops era. The Sooners finished 8-5 overall and 5-3 in Big 12 play, losing the Red River Shootout once again to the Texas Longhorns. The good news is that Oklahoma actually wasn’t far from being one of the best teams in the land last year despite all the injuries. Four of their five losses came...

The San Francisco 49ers have to be heading into the 2010 season thinking they have a a great shot at winning the NFC West this season. The 49ers are coming off an 8-8 season in 2009, but with the Arizona Cardinals losing quarterback Kurt Warner to retirement, they have quickly become the favorites to win the division this season. 2010 St. Louis Rams Predictions - July 26, 2010

The St. Louis Rams have simply not been a good football team at all the past three seasons. They have managed just six wins since going 8-8 in 2006, and many of their losses have been blowouts. The Rams were just 1-15 in 2009, but there is hope that this team will start to show some life in the second season under head coach Tony Spagnuolo. This is still a very young football team (3rd youngest in the NFL), but the pieces are starting to fall in place for this team to once again be competitive in...

2010 Seattle Seahawks Predictions - July 26, 2010

After dominating the NFC West from 2004 to 2007 with four straight division titles, the Seahawks have fell off into the bottom half of the NFL. In Jim Mora’s first season as head coach the Seahawks went just 5-11, and it resulted in the team firing Mora after just one season. The Seahaws went out and landed former USC head coach Pete Carroll, who they believe will turn this franchise back into an annual contender in the NFC West. Here is a look at what the Seahawks will send on to the field...

2010 Oregon College Football Predictions - July 26, 2010

The Oregon Ducks are out to prove that last year’s Rose Bowl appearance was no fluke when they take the field for their opener against New Mexico on Sept 4th.  Not everything has been roses for Chip Kelly’s squad during the off-season as star QB Jeremiah Masoli (rumored to be looking into Ole Miss) was suspended for the season after being caught stealing a computer.  This team has a plethora of talent though and will look to build on a 10 win season that ended with a 26-17 loss against Ohio...

North Carolina College Football Predictions 2010 - July 26, 2010

Head coach Butch Davis has reason to be very excited about his 4th season calling the shots for the North Carolina Tar Heels.  Boasting arguably the most talented defense in the nation and coming off an 8-5 season, the Heels look to be a prime candidate to take home the ACC Coastal Division Title.  19 starters return in all making UNC one of the most experienced teams in the nation on both sides of the ball.  A majority of those returning turned down millions of dollars in the NFL Draft so anything...

Missouri College Football Predictions 2010 - July 26, 2010

The Mizzou Tigers enter the 2010 season with high hopes of taking home a Big 12 North Conference title.  Nebraska will be the team to beat, but with 16 returning starters and one of the best quarterbacks in the country they are more than capable of dethroning the Huskers.  The Tigers won eight games in 2009 under Gary Pinkel in a season that many fans thought to be a rebuilding year.  While Nebraska decided to bolt for the Big Ten next season, Missouri chose to stick around after rumors surfaced...

The 2010 version of the BYU Cougars will look much different than the 11 win team from a year ago.  MWC record setting QB Max Hall has departed the program and only 12 starters in all return for a team that pulled off one of the biggest upsets in 2009 vs. Oklahoma.  Bronco Mendenhall’s teams are known for reloading each year behind strong recruiting classes plus disciplined play.  If the Cougs can find a quick solution at quarterback, expect them to challenge TCU and Utah for the conference...

Middle Tennessee concluded its best season since joining the FBS in 1999 with a seven-game winning streak and its first ever bowl victory. The Blue Raiders were 7-1 in conference and 10-3 overall, capping of their second place season with its second ever bowl game in school history, with a 42-32 victory over Southern Miss in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. 2010 Arizona Cardinals Predictions - July 23, 2010

There will be a different look to the Arizona Cardinals for the 2010 season, as quarterback Kurt Warner decided to retire this past offseason, after taking them to the Super Bowl in 2008 and leading them to a second straight division title in 2009. The Cardinals were able to beat the Packers in the first round of the playoffs, but were no match for the Saints in the divisional round. Even without Warner the Cardinals believe they still have enough talent to win the NFC West this season. Here is a...
