With less than a week remaining before the 2011 NBA All-Star Weekend, it’s time to start tackling the game from a bettor’s perspective. We know that, as far as recent history is concerned, the West is a deeper, more competitive conference. Sign up at Bodog and get a 10% UNLIMITED signup bonus!
But we also know that the East had produced three of the past seven NBA champions. Although the Western standings may be more challenging top-down, there’s no denying that players from each conference know how to get things done when they have to.
As far as NBA betting goes, the All-Star Game has always been a funny thing. In it players are subject to limited minutes, fans are subject to at times limited efforts from the players, and the bettors who watch it all need to somehow sort through the mess in order to play the odds.
Earlier this month the NBA revealed the coach-selected All-Star reserves, the list of players to accompany the starters previously voted in by the fans. Now with the rosters complete we can get a better idea of how the game will unfold.
Four Boston Celtics players were named reserves to the team, an impressive feat in its own. Considering then that the club is one of a handful of legitimate title contenders this year, you can expect their chemistry to come in handy in the otherwise exhibition.
Will the abundance of Celtics on the bench help the East’s core of dominant, young starters stay above the West? LeBron James and Dwight Howard will be an imposing pair.
The West won’t be without its share of intimidating player combinations, particularly Kobe Bryant and Kevin Durant. This isn’t Bryant’s first time at the rodeo, in fact, it’s his 13th, and to make matters worse for the East, the game will be held in Los Angeles.
Joining Bryant as a representative of the home city will be sensational rookie Blake Griffin. Bet on the Sprite Slam Dunk Competition on Saturday night before putting your money on the big game with Bodog’s NBA All-Star game odds.
