2011 NHL All Star Game Props
Written by Anthony Moretti - Google +
Bodog sportsbook just recently put our their proposition bets for this year’s NHL All Star Game. This year’s showcase of the top hockey players in the world will have one major difference to previous seasons’ events. The rosters will be drafted by the All-Star players themselves. There is no East vs. West either, this year the teams have been named Team Lidstrom and Team Staal – after the two selected captains for the game, Nicklas Lidstrom and Eric Staal.
Props (or proposition bets) are basically a wager placed on a future event, usually on a team or a player. Here we will take a look at some of the top proposition bets for the 2011 NHL All Star game.
Who will win the 2011 All Star Game? I wouldn’t advise betting this one before the teams are drafted/announced on January 28th, but you do have the option. Both teams are listed equally right now, but these numbers are likely to change:
Team Lidstrom: -110
Team Staal: -110
Who will be the first Player drafted in the 2011 NHL All Star Fantasy Draft? This prop is definitely interesting. The players that you’d expect to get drafted first are listed at the top of the list, but if you think one of the teams will select a player that is not one of the favorites, you have an opportunity to get some pretty good odds. Also note that it still isn’t clear if Sidney Crosby will play at all in the game, so I’d recommend laying off of any bets concerning him until his status is confirmed. Here are some of the players that have been given the “best” odds of being selected first in this fantasy draft:
The Favorites
Alex Ovechkin – 4/1
Henrik Sedin – 4/1
Sidney Crosby – 5/1
Steven Stamkos – 7/1
Middle of the Pack
Cam Ward – 15/1
Evgeni Malkin – 15/1
Daniel Sedin – 15/1
Long-Shots
Patrick Kane – 30/1
Henrik Lundqvist – 30/1
Loui Kriksson – 40/1
Patrik Elias – 45/1
Tobias Enstrom – 50/1

Will Sidney Crosby Play in the 2011 All Star Game? As I mentioned, Crosby’s status for the All Star Game is kind of up in the air because of a concussion he sustained earlier in January. Crosby would likely be the favorite to be picked first overall if he status was certain, and even though it isn’t he is still listed near the top of players to be selected first overall in this fantasy draft. Oddsmakers aren’t very confident that Crosby will be on the ice for the game as the “No” prop bet on whether or not he will play is currently the favorite:
Yes +120
No -160
