San Francisco 49ers vs. Arizona Cardinals NFL Betting Odds & Spread

Written November 7, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Editors Note: Jason Lowry has a MONDAY NIGHT ATS BLOWOUT OF THE WEEK going in this one, where he sees one team just crushing the spread in this one.

The Arizona Cardinals are running away from the NFC West, and look like they are headed back to the playoffs this year, but first they must take care of the San Francisco 49ers at home this week on Monday Night Football. The Cardinals come in at 6-2 fresh off a beating of the St Louis, while the 49ers at 2-6 sit tied with everyone else at the bottom of the division come off their bye week, but havent won a game since they beat Detroit in week 3. The oddsmakers aren’t thinking this one will even be close, as the Cardinals come in 9.5 point favorites at BetUS.com

The 49ers offense is was not good with Nolan, and it wasn’t any better for Singletary as they got beat up by the Seahawks at home 34-13. The 49ers just aren’t getting good play out of their quarterbacks. In the last game starter JT O’sullivan got benched after his 11th fumble, and that gave way for Shaun Hill to step in, and he actually did a pretty good job completing 15 of 23 passes for 173 yards. Running back Frank Gore ran for 94 yards, and he must continue that kind of performance and hope that Hill will get everything else working.

The 49ers defense isn’t really that good other than Patrick Willis is the half of this defense by himself. Last week they let a backup quarterback in Senneca Wallace step in and throw for 222 yards an 2 scores. They were pretty good against the run giving up just 39 yards on the ground. This week they face a Cardinals offense that loves to throw the football, and this unit will have to find a way to stop that. Bet San Francisco +9.5 at BetUS.com

The Cardinals with Kurt Warner are really starting to look like a team that is a serious contender in the entire NFC, as just keep winning. In their most recent game against the Rams Kurt Warner throw for 342 yards and 2 scores, while Tim Hightower stepped into lead the running game with 22 carries for 109 yards. This offense can really throw the football, and it looks like with Boldin back they have 3 big threats at receiver in Boldin, Fitzgerald, and Breaston. Is long as Warner protects the football this team is going to keep winning.

The Cardinals defense did a real nice job against the Rams in their last game, as they made sure a team without a healthy Steven Jackson didn’t come in and shock them. They held the Rams to just 61 yards on the ground, and were just as good against the pass forcing 2 interceptions. If the defense continues to play at least a decent level where teams aren’t just flying up and down the field, this team is good enough to beat anyone it plays, but a loss this week against the 49ers will definitely change everyones opinion.
