San Francisco 49ers vs. Dallas Cowboys NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 20, 2008 by Jason Lowry

The 6-4 Dallas Cowboys will look to make it 2 in a row with Tony Romo back as their starting quarterback when they host the 3-7 San Francisco 49ers this weekend. Last week Romo and the Cowboys were able to go into Washington and beat the Redskins 14-10, and it had to feel good for this team, considering the Redskins beat Dallas at home earlier this season. As for the 49ers they made easy work of St Louis crushing the Rams 35-16. For those of you looking to do a little NFL betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Cowboys 10 point favorites at home over the 49ers at Bookmaker.com
Now the 49ers are a solid football team, and even though they only have 3 wins on the season, this is not a team you can take lightly and expect to win the football game. Last week against the Rams Shaun Hill was very impressive throwing the football, as Hill threw 20 times with just 5 incompletions, while on his way to racking up 213 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Hill also decided to get in on the fun with a 1 yard touchdown run. The 49ers also got a big game out of star running back Frank Gore, who needed just 18 carries for 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. The 49ers cruised to the finish in this one, as they racked up 35 first half points, including a 28 point outburst in the 2nd quarter. With the Cowboys defense being hit or miss this season, there’s a good chance this unit can at least put a good scare into the Cowboys this weekend.
The 49ers defense played as expected last week against the Rams, holding them to just 16 pints with the majority of those coming with the game already out of hand. The defense was all over Marc Bulger in this one, as they sacked the quarterback 4 times, picked him off twice, and forced a fumble. That kind of pressure is the key to getting to Romo and beating the Cowboys this week, as Romo loves to try and make the big play even when the wise move is to just take the sack or throw the ball away. If this unit can create some turnovers and keep Romo from throwing at will, the 49ers can definitely keep this one within ten. Bet 49ers +10 at Bookmaker.com
The Cowboys offense wasn’t as explosive as some might have thought it would be with Romo back int he starting lineup, but they were playing on the road against a very good defensive team. Now Romo wasn’t the Romo everyone is use to either, as he had his struggles throwing the football. Romo threw for 198 yards and 1 score, but had to big interceptions in this one. Good thing for Romo, was Marion Barber had the running game going, as he carried it 24 times for 114 yards and a touchdown. Barber was also Romo’s favorite target last week, catching 6 balls for 39 yards. Look for Romo to continue to work the kinks out, as this unit should bounce back to the high power offense it was in no time.
The Cowboys defense really came up big when needed last week, as they pretty much shut down a Redskins offense that even had Clinton Portis in the lineup. Now Portis wasn’t a 100%, but still managed 68 yards against the Cowboys defense. The Cowboys did a great job of getting pressure on Jason Campbell, as Jay Ratliff led the way with 2 of the teams 3 sacks, and Terrence Newman intercepted one of Campbells passes. If the Cowboys can bring that same kind of intensity and pressure to the 49ers this weekend, than this team should be rolling into their Thanksgiving matchup against the Seahawks.
