AFC Win Totals Over

With another NFL season just a couple weeks away, professional handicapper Jason Lowry is going to bring you his best 2008 AFC win totals OVER predictions. Each year many sportsbooks put out a given number for how many wins they think a team will achieve in a given season, and the bettor has the option of going over or under that given total to win the bet. So to help you get off on the right track before the season even gets under way check out our top 5 teams we think will go OVER their given total this season in the AFC.
1. San Diego Chargers Over 10.5 wins (-210) at Sportsbook.com
The Chargers are coming off a season in where they racked up 11 wins, and finished the season about as strong as you can going 7-1. Playing in one of the weakest division that include the Chiefs and Raiders, there is no question this reaches the 11 win mark again this season. We expect LT to have a huge season keep the offense on track, while the defense should be just as good, if not stronger than it was a year ago.
2. Tennessee Titans Over 8 wins (+115) at Sportsbook.com
We are big on the Titans this season, and think they are going to be the big surprise team of the AFC. Its not going to be easy playing in the same division as the Colts and Jaguars, but we think its time Vince Young really started developing into a much better passer. The team has added some weapons on offense, and the defense remains strong. This team is going to win more than 8 games this season, there is no question about it.
3. Cleveland Browns Over 8 wins (-115) at Sportsbook.com
The Browns were the surprise team of 2007 going 10-6 finishing tied with the Steelers for first in the AFC North. With the Bengals and Ravens both looking like they are going to have another down year, we think this could be the year the Browns win the division and get back into the playoffs. Either way there is no way this team finishes under .500 this season, so taking the Over 8 wins is about as safe as bet as you will find.
4. New England Patriots Over 12 wins (-175) at Sportsbook.com
The Patriots were one defensive stop from winning every time they stepped on the field in 2007, and we see absolutely no reason that this team doesn’t win more than 12 games in 2008. Yes, the Jets are going to be better with Favre at quarterback, but there is no way this team doesn’t run away with the AFC,or at least finish in the top 2. The Patriots have to play the Chargers, Colts, and Steelers, but we see no way they lose all 3 plus another game.
5. New York Jets Over 8 wins (-175) at Sportsbook.com
We stick the The AFC East for our last and final team we think is going to go over their win total this season. There is no question that the Jets are instantly better with Favre at quarterback. If Favre stays healthy and the defense keeps teams from running all over them, there is no way this team finishes under .500. This is yet another can’t miss play, as the Packers will soon find out just how much Favre meant to that team.
