Get ready NFL fans, as we near the beginning of another exciting season, and to help you get off on the right foot professional handicapper Jason Lowry is going to bring you his 2008 AFC win totals UNDER predictions. Each season sportsbooks put out a total number of wins they think each team will reach in the upcoming season, and that gives you the option of either picking over or under that total to cash in on. Today we are going to put our focus on the 5 teams we think are going to stink it up this season, and go UNDER their predicted totals in the AFC.

1. Houston Texans Under 7.5 wins (+110) at Sportsbook.com
It’s not so much that we think the Texans are that bad of football team, but not only do they play in one of the toughest divisions in the AFC South, but they also have a a brutal schedule overall, that includes games against the Browns, Steelers, Vikings, and Packers. This team will be much better than their win total this season, but we don’t see anyway they repeat their 8-8 success from a year ago.

2. Oakland Raiders Under 6 wins (+115) at Sportsbook.com
We think there is a lot of hype surrounding the Raiders, because of their addition of Darren McFadden and what Adrian Peterson did last year for the Vikings, but even with the great success of Peterson the Vikings were still only able to win 8 games. Their is no way that this Raiders team is anywhere near the level the Vikings were at a year ago. If the Raiders are lucky they win at most 6 games this year, so the safe bet is on the under.

3. Miami Dolphins Under 5.5 wins (-140) at Sportsbook.com
The Dolphins are heading into the right direction bringing Parcells into the front office, but he doesn’t work miracles in a matter of just one season. We are talking about a team that needed overtime to win just 1 games last season. Who exactly did this team add, that brings in 5 more wins? If you are smart you take our advice and take the under on the Dolphins this season.

4. Baltimore Ravens Under 6 wins (-106) at Sportsbook.com
The Ravens have to many problems at quarterback to expect much of anything out of this team. The defense is started to show signs of age last season, and it could be the end of one of the most dominating defenses we have seen. It doesn’t help matters that the Browns and Steelers are coming off very strong seasons, and to make matters worse their schedule has them playing our two toughest divisions, the AFC South and the NFC East as well.

5. Cincinnati Bengals Under 7 wins (+125) at Sportsbook.com
Its sad to see the Bengals waste so much talent, as they have an elite quarterback and two of the best wide receivers in the game, but the team still has little to no talent on the defensive side of things, so we really don’t see this team winding up at .500 this season. Though there is a chance this team will finally live up to its potential, we think 2008 is not the year that happens.

So there you have it the 5 teams in the AFC we think don’t quite get to their expected win totals this season.
