Allen Iverson to Greece?
Written August 4, 2009 by Jack Jones
Is it possible that Allen Iverson will head to Greece? Well it is being reported that the Greece Olympiacos are going to offer Allen Iverson a two year, $10 million contract to head overseas. It seems that teams over in Europe are now prepared to pay players who have a large fan base if NBA teams stall to get them signed. I don’t know if Iverson is going to take this offer or if he is going to wait around for an NBA team to step up to the table, but I’m a little confused why no team has made him an offer up to this point. Sure he struggled with the Pistons last year, but two years ago with the Denver Nuggets he put up 26.4 ppg. If you like to bet on the NBA, then BetUS gives our readers a $500 signup bonus on a $500 initial deposit.
How can teams that have ranked in the bottom of offensive categories not want to take a chance on a guy who comes in and scores a lot of points? Sure he might not be as quick as he once was and he can be a liability on defense, but there is no doubting that he is exciting to watch and generates fan interest. So why wouldn’t the Charlotte Bobcats, the Memphis Grizzlies, or the LA Clippers give him a chance? Doesn’t he fit in with the style of play of the Washington Wizards (score a lot of points and don’t waste any effort on defense)? I think the Spurs might even be a good fit for him at this point as it seems Greg Popovich has a way of maximizing the talent out of veteran stars and the team could use an offensive boost to get them back into contender status.
It will be interesting to see how this unfolds and if he does go whether more NBA stars will make the jump overseas. Remember when the season starts that we have updated NBA odds from several sportsbooks and the top NBA picks from expert basketball handicappers.

Got something to say?

I think the spurs would be a great fit for Iverson, they have a strong coach, and they need the fire power of a guy that can still give 40+ at any given time. I believe with Iverson the Spurs could knock out the Lakers and go to the finals. You gotta remember this is s guy with a huge chip on his shoulder and will be willing to do anything to quiet his doubters. whoever he goes to expect for him to have a great year outta pure spite for all the teams that overlooked him.
