Allstate 400 at the Brickyard Picks

After a week off NASCAR is back and action with a bang, as fans and drivers get ready for the 2008 Allstate 400 at the Brickyard. This fun and entertaining event has quickly become one of the best races of the season, and fans have been piling into Indianapolis Motor Speedway ever since the race got started back in 1994, as around 4,000 fans attend this event each year. It comes to little surprise that the last race was won by Kyle Busch at the Lifelock.com 400, and he now has his Sprint Cup points lead up to 262 over Dale Earnhardt Jr. There have only been 5 drivers with an average finish of 10th or better here at the Brickyard, in Kyle Busch, Tony Stewart, Kevin Harvick, Clint Bowyer, and Jeff Gordon. Stewart has won this event twice so far in his career including a win last season. Busch has been a pure force on the race track this season, as he has dominated the field this season. Busch has hands down the most wins this season with 7 and there is no way he doesn’t find himself in the final 12 at the end of the season. We think this is Busch’s breakout year and it might be awhile before anyone takes this guy down.

Johnson just can’t seem to get it going this year, as he is still sitting on just one win this season. Johnson did have a solid finish at the Lifelock.com 400 finishing just behind Busch, but if Johnson wants to even think about a 3 peat then he better start winning now. He won this thing back in 2006 and there is no question he will be a threat this weekend.
Kasey Kahne + 700 to win at Sportsbook.com
Kahne came on late this season, with a great run while winning the Coca-Cola 600 and the Pocono 500, but after a 2nd place finish the following week at the Lifelock 400, Kahne has really struggled and has dropped back down to 11th in the standings. If Kahne is going to make it in the top 12 he needs to start finishing strong on a more consistent basis.

Stewart is a guy that just can’t find the winners circle this season, the guy has 6 top 5 performances, but none where he was the first across the finish line. Stewart is known for turning it on late, and this is a great track for him to do so. Winning two out of the last 3, has to help his confidence going into the race this weekend.

Edwards started the season off fast, and still sits in 2nd in wins on the season with 3, and has started to pick it back up as of late with 3 second place finishes in the 9 races, and 4 other finishes in the top 10. Edwards should be find when it comes to the top 12, but if he wants to win it all this year he needs to get back in the winners circle.
