Arizona vs Detroit NFL Betting Lines

Written December 17, 2009 by Hector Garza

It’s so easy to bet on the NFL, especially when you can get up to a 60% BONUS from BetUS.  Arizona (8-5) hits the road this week as they travel to take on the woeful Lions (2-11).  The Cardinals dropped another division game to San Francisco in convincing fashion, getting dominated 24-9.  They’re now second place in the NFC West but can clinch the division with two more wins.  To be successful, Detroit will need to pressure and harass QB Kurt Warner, who showed his susceptibility with two interceptions and a lost fumble against the 49ers.  Our NFL odds have the Cardinals as the 12 point favorites with a total set at 47.  Game time is 4:05 p.m. ET in what is sure to be a cold game in the Motor City.

The Lions are currently riding a three game losing streak and coming off their worst defeat this season.  The defense was gashed for 548 total yards, while the offense managed only 229 and three points against a stiff Baltimore squad.  Daunte Culpepper got the start and went 16-34 for only 135 yards and two interceptions.  He’s come up short filling the shoes of Matt Stafford.  On the year he’s completing 53.5% of his passes for one touchdown and four interceptions. More bad news is that RB Kevin Smith, who leads the team in rushing and is second in receiving yards, was knocked out of the contest in the 4th quarter.  On the other side of the ball, the stop unit got beat up in the air and on the ground.  They gave up four plays of 30 yards passing, and allowed 7.7 ypc rushing.  The Ravens ended the day with 308 yards rushing alone, and special teams wasn’t much better with K Jason Hanson missing another field goal for the sixth time in his last seven games with an attempt.

The Cardinals need two more wins to clinch their division, and this week they’re expecting one of the two.  The first order of business will be taking care of the football, as they turned it over seven times in their last game.  Kurt Warner was a little off the mark, as he was responsible for three of them, but was sacked four times and pressured the majority of the night.  No doubt they’ll be looking to take a page out of the Raven’s playbook and establish the ground game with RB’s Tim Hightower and Beanie Wells.  Arizona’s defense played well, holding the 49ers to scores on only five of the seven turnovers.  They only allowed 138 yards passing, with the majority going to the rookie Michael Crabtree.  Their problem was shutting down RB Frank Gore, who tallied 167 yards of the 189 yards gained on the ground.  The good news is they’ll have a much easier challenge in Detroit’s offense as they’re missing a big piece with Smith.
