Arkansas at LSU College Football Spread
Written November 25, 2009 by Kyle Hunter
The Arkansas Razorbacks and the LSU Tigers have played on the Friday after Thanksgiving for quite a while, but now they are moving to prime time on Saturday evening. Arkansas has upset the Tigers in the last two years and LSU will definitely want revenge in this game. LSU is coming off a terrible loss at Ole Miss where the coaching staff seemed dazed and confused at the end of the game as time rolled off the clock. LSU definitely needs a win in this game to get the bad taste out of their mouth, but Arkansas is a much improved team. The Arkansas Razorbacks have made drastic improvement this year and have exceeded most football predictionsfrom the experts. Ryan Mallett and the prolific offense are the main reason for the great strides. Mallett has thrown for 3,195 yards on the season and has a stunning 28 touchdowns and just 6 interceptions while playing a very tough group of SEC defenses. The running game at Arkansas is fairly good too. With 5 players with at least 29 carries on the season they have a very deep backfield and they take some pressure off of Mallett and the passing game when needed. Four receivers have more than 25 receptions this year. Dennis Johnson is one of the best kick returners in the SEC as well. The offense as a whole is averaging 38 points per game. The defense is the weakness, and it has given up 408 yards per game for the season. In the last few games Arkansas’ defense has improved quite a bit.
LSU comes into this game at 8-3 on the season after a heart breaking loss to Ole Miss last weekend. The Tigers are definitely a resilient team, but they haven’t just gotten everything clicking offensively this year. Jordan Jefferson has done a nice job at the quarterback spot managing the team. Jefferson has 14 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions on the season. The running game at LSU was supposed to be dynamic, but they have been no better than average. Now the running back position is thin because Charles Scott and Keiland Williams, the top two backs on the team, are both out for the season with injuries. Averaging just 128 yards on the ground per game, LSU’s offense has struggled mightily at times to score. The defense of LSU has been very good all year long and has kept them in every game. The defense is giving up a measly 8.5 points per game at home this year.
The college football odds for this weekend show LSU as a 3.5 point home favorite. The posted total has opened at 54 points. When making NCAA football picks for this game remember that the over is 5-1 in the last 6 games in this series and the underdog is 7-3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings.
The LSU Tigers should have a real fight on their hands when Arkansas comes to Baton Rouge this Saturday evening. LSU is injury depleted, but it will need to have some offense in this one. Arkansas must be able to have balance on offense and shut down the LSU run game well to win. I expect this to be one of the best games of the weekend to watch.
I have now gone 12-3 on college football plays. A 6-1 week was followed last weekend by a 6-2 weekend. This weekend I’m going to be bringing more winners this weekend so take a look at my premium packages and subscriptions, which are all guaranteed and priced very reasonably.
