Arkansas at Texas A&M Lines & Spread

In a rare meeting between the Big 12 and the SEC, the Arkansas Razorbacks head down to the Lone Star State to take on the Texas A&M Aggies. Heading into the year, these were supposed to be the two best conferences in the country. So far, the SEC hasn’t disappointed but the Big 12 has already suffered a couple big losses. But the Razorbacks are probably the most disappointing team in the SEC so far, while the Aggies are the most impressive team in the Big 12 as far as preseason expectations are concerned. College football odds makers have installed Arkansas as a 1.5-point road favorite over Texas A&M with a Total Set of 66.5 points in what they expect will be a high-scoring affair.
The Razorbacks were hoping to be a contender in the SEC West before the season, now they are just desperate for their first conference win. That will have to wait a week or two as Arkansas tries to get back to .500 for the season after a 1-2 start. But their two losses have come against Top-25 teams in Georgia and Alabama. The Razorbacks were at least competitive in their 40-51 home loss to the Bulldogs, but that can’t be said about last week’s performance where they lost 7-35 at Alabama. Through two games, this Razorbacks’ offense was averaging 538.0 yards and 44.5 points/game. But they managed just 254 yards against a stingy Crimson Tide defense last week, averaging just 3.8 yards/play. This is still one of the best offenses in the land and they’ll have a chance to showcase that this week against a weak Aggies’ defense. After the Arkansas defense has given up six scoring plays of more than 40 yards the past two weeks, they’ll have their hands full against a Texas A&M offense that ranks among the best in the country.

Texas A&M owns the nation’s top-ranked offense at 574.3 yards/game, fourth-ranked scoring offense at 45.0 points/game and the No. 6 ranked passing offense at 330.3 yards/game. This unit has to be licking their chops at the opportunity to face one of the nation’s worst defenses. But the Aggies have done their damage against UAB, Utah State and New Mexico, three teams combining for a 2-9 record this season. QB Jarrod Johnson is leading the Big 12 in total offense at a staggering 387.7 yards/game. This young team needed a fast start after finishing last season with a 4-8 mark, including 0-5 against Big 12 South foes. Though the Aggies’ defense has been far from impressive, there is one standout in hybrid linebacker Von Miller who leads the nation with 7.5 sacks in just three games. He’ll have to keep up his fierce pass rush to slow down a Razorbacks’ offense that loves to put the ball in the air. This is the first meeting of a 10-year agreement by both teams to play at Cowboys’ stadium.
