2009 Pebble Beach Pro-Am Predictions
Written by Jason Lowry

This Thursday the PGA Tour will head to the always fun Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, where fans get to see what some celebrities can do on the links. When it is all said and done the attention focuses back on the guys who do this for a living, and last year Steve Lowry was able to walk away with the hardware, and the year before it was Phil Mickelson. With a pretty stacked field ready to attack the 3 golf courses this tournament uses, we thought it would be a good idea to give you 3 golfers we think are not only great value picks, but are legit threats to win this tournament.
Tim Clark +2000 odds to win
Clark’s game really fits the courses this week, as he is all about accuracy off the tee and can really get the putter rolling. He is really playing some great golf lately, as he has three top 12 finishes in his last 5 starts. His most recent start came at the Bob Hope Classic where he finished in a tie for 5th. This isn’t the name a lot of you might not expected, but get ready for a great showing from this guy.
Davis Love III +2500 odds to win
Love III might be an old guy on tour, but he can still swing it with the best of them when he has it going. He already has two solid finishes this season, including a tie for 2nd to get the season underway at the Mercedes-Benz Championship. Love also has played well here in the past, as he was this event twice since the start of the decade (2001, 2003). Look for Love to score well and be right in the thick of things come Sunday.
Charles Howell III +4000 odds to win
Here is our big sleeper for the week, as we think this guy is due to come out and put together 4 great rounds of golf, and he has showed signs of doing that this year already, as he has a nice 4th place finish at the Sony Open already under his belt. This guy is just 29-years-old, and we feel like he has the potential to really become a big threat on tour.

Got something to say?

Nice article Jason. Personally I think Mike Weir has a great shot here. In his last six trips to this event he has four top-5s and a top-15. I also kind of like Jim Furyk who has played well here before but never won.
