2011 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am Predictions

Written by -

For the second time this season, Mark Wilson finished on top of the leaderboard. Wilson won last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, holding off Jason Dufner in a playoff. Wilson got his first win of the season at the Sony Open in Hawaii three weeks earlier.

This week the PGA Tour heads to Pebble Beach, California for the 2011 Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Dustin Johnson took home the hardware last season with a one shot win over David Duval and J.B. Holmes.

The tournament is played at Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill Golf Course, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club. While experience plays a big role in handling the different courses, a big key to success this week is hitting greens in regulation, as you have to score low to win this event. Johnson won with a four-round score of 16-under last year. Only once in the last 11 stops at this event has someone won with a score worse than 14-under (Steve Lowery, 10-under 2008).

Here is a look at three golfers I feel have a great shot at coming away with the win this week, plus their odds to win at Sports Interaction.

Phil Mickelson: After finishing tied for second at the Farmers Insurance Open, Mickelson finished tied for 29th last week at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Michelson has the second best odds (+750) to win this week, behind only Johnson (+700). Mickelson has won this event three times in his career, with the last coming in 2007 when he finished 20-under. No question Mickelson has the experience and the game to pull out another win.

J.B Holmes: Holmes finished tied for fifth last week at the Phoenix Open, and has been rock solid at this event throughout his career. Holmes finished tied for second last year, and has cashed in all four times he has played in this event. Holmes was a birdie machine last week at the Phoenix Open, leading the field, and you have to like his chances of being right there with a chance to win come Sunday.

Vijay Singh: If you are looking for a golfer with great value this weekend, Singh comes in as a legit threat to win, despite not having the best odds to do so (+3300). Singh finished tied for third last week at the Phoenix Open, and has a pretty good track record at this event (second all-time in earnings). Singh won this event in 2004, and has finished 11th or better in three starts since, including a runner-up finish in 2008, where he lost in a playoff to Lowery.
