The Auburn Tigers take their outstanding defense on the road to take on the surprising Commodores. Although Vanderbilt is unbeaten and has two SEC wins, they have not faced a caliber of team like the Auburn Tigers. The oddsmakers are still giving the edge to Auburn, listing the spread at -4.5 over Vanderbilt.

Both teams in this match up are built around defense and running the football. This benefits Auburn. Auburn’s defense is only allowing 10.6 points per game, and only allows 92.2 yards rushing per game. This Vanderbilt team relies heavily on their rushing attack and with such a terrible passing offense (ranked 117th in the country), look for them to struggle putting up points against the Tigers.

Auburn’s offense has struggled a little so far this season. However, their strong defense will help set up great field position for them. Look for running backs Ben Tate and Brad Lester to get the call early and often as the Tigers will grind it out on the ground. The two have combined for 567 yards and three touchdowns so far this season, so look for them to add to those numbers.

Auburn quarterback Chris Todd has shown glimpses of being a solid starter in the SEC. Todd played well against a tough LSU defense, as he threw for 250 yards and one touchdown. Look for this to be a breakout game for Todd and the Auburn passing attack.

With the great Auburn defense against a very weak Vanderbilt passing attack, look for the Commodores to struggle early and often.
