Auburn v. West Virginia Free Football Picks

The Auburn Tigers go on the road for a Thursday night non-conference game against West Virginia. Many believed that this game was going to impact the BCS picture, but a few early season losses for both teams have ended that. However, both teams still have a lot to play for. The college football odds have been released for this one, and BetUS is showing West Virginia as a 2.5 point favorite with the total set at 38.

There is no questioning that both teams have played a lot of low scoring games, but this line makes no sense. A Thursday night game, with two major conference powers, and the over line is just 38? It makes no sense.

Auburn limps into this game losing three of their last four. Look for them to show affects of these losing streak against West Virginia. The Tigers showed signs of giving up on the 2008 season two weeks ago, as they lost to a terrible Arkansas team. Against the Razorbacks they allowed over 400 total yards, including 188 on the ground. Look for quarterback Pat White and speedster running back Noel Devine to have a huge day. Both players average over six yards per carry. West Virginia will finally break out and their offense will look like it did in the past.

West Virginia’s defense is only giving up 14.6 points per game, but let’s be honest; they haven’t faced any type of offense. Although Auburn has struggled to put up points in the SEC, playing West Virginia will give them a break from the faster and more physical defenses. Auburn does not have a high powered offense, but do not forget they are playing the nation’s best defenses week in and week out. Look for Auburn to put together some nice drives, as well as getting great field position from their defense.
