Auburn at West Virginia Football Betting Odds and Spread

In what looked like was going to be a big time non-conference game when the schedule came out this season, is not quite as big as it could have been. This Thursday Auburn will try to bounce back from a rough start in the SEC when it heads to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers. After starting the season 3-0 Auburn has lost 3 of 4 including its last 2 and has quite the climb to make if it wants to get back near the top in the SEC West. For West Virginia is starting to turn it around, but they have a lot of convincing to do after its back to back losses to East Carolina and Colorado early in the season, but has won 3 straight so maybe things are headed in the right direction for good. For those of you doing some football betting the oddsmakers are rolling with the home team, as West Virginia is 3 point favorites over Auburn at Sportsbook.com
Auburn continues to get little to no play from their quarterback position and that was a big part of their most recent loss to Arkansas at home, where Kodi Burns and Chris Todd combined to throw for just 137 yards and had 3 costly interceptions. Burns did try to make up for his mistakes running 15 times for 38 yards and a score, but its just not the performance the team expects out of their starting quarterback. The Tigers had little to no ground game, and it didn’t help that backup quarterback had a -25 yards rushing. Starting running back Ben Tate only had 32 yards on the ground, and thats just not going to cut it. This offense has to find a way to turn it on, or this season is going to be lost sooner than anyone would have liked.
The Tigers defense has been the strength of this team, but it really struggled to stop an Arkansas team that has had its up and downs to start the season. The Tigers let the Razorbacks throw for 222 yards and rush for over a 190. The Tigers did create some turnovers there own as they forced two interceptions, but its going to have its hands full this weekend against the West Virginia offense that has one of the best quarterbacks in the country. If Auburn is going to regain that top 25 form its going to have to really pick it up on this side of the ball. Bet Auburn +3 at Sportsbook.com
We have mentioned that West Virginia has a pretty quality quarterback in Patrick White, but White hasn’t been real impressive as of late just throwing 4 touchdowns since throwing 5 in the first game of the season. But its not as if White is playing bad, as he only has 1 interception on the season, and has chipped in with 428 rushing yards and 2 more scores. Though the Mountaineers haven’t been putting up the numbers many people might have expected they have done a good job of securing the ball and scoring when needed.
The Mountaineers defense has been tough all season long, and has really turned it on of late in their 3 game winning streak giving up just 26 points and has really kept the other team from getting much going on the ground. The Mountaineers defense has to like what it sees in the Auburn offense that is coming to town, but you never know what to expect in college football. Bet West Virginia -3 at Sportsbook.com
