You might not know the name of Barry Greenstein, but you should. He has gone unnoticed as a professional poker player for years but he’s now starting to get the attention that he deserves. Even though he might be an unfamiliar face to you, you can bet that the top tournament pros and people who play in the largest cash games in the world know this guy and what his game is all about. He has won a couple of tournaments in less than a year worth more than $1 million dollars. What makes this guy even more special is how he donates every cent of these tournament winnings to charity, with his favorite being Children, Inc. Children, Inc helps kids in schools, orphanages, and welfare centers with food, clothing, and educational records.

This guy was known as a prodigy in math and computer science when he was in high school. He then went to the University of Illinois where he earned his degree in computer science. He then worked on his Ph.D. in mathematics up until 1984 when he went to work for Symantec, the parent company of Norton anti-virus, up until 1991. After his retirement from there are the ripe old age of 36 he started playing poker more seriously. Since that time he has been seen playing in the high stakes California cash games and now playing at Larry Flynt’s game at Hustler Casino.

Barry won Flynt’s $1 million stud tournament at the Hustler Casino back in 2003, and then followed that accomplishment up with a win at the 2004 Jack Binion’s World Poker Open. That same year he was a World Series of Poker bracelt in No-Limit Deuce to Seven Draw.

Barry isn’t done yet, so if you keep practicing and playing at great poker rooms online then maybe you can take a shot at him some day in one of those $1 million tournaments.
