Baylor vs. Texas Tech Football Betting Odds & Spread

Written November 26, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Saturday the Texas Tech Red Raiders will look to bounce back from one of the toughest loses they have ever had, as their shot at a National Championship went down the drains when Oklahoma destroyed them 65-21 last week, but now they are 10-1, and get ready to host the Baylor Bears this week in the final game of the regular season for both teams. Baylor is just 4-7 on the season, but brought home an impressive 41-21 win over Texas A&M two weeks ago. Now for those of you looking to do a little NCAA football betting this weekend, the oddsmakers have the Red Raiders 21.5 point favorites over the Bears at BetUS.com

The Bears haven’t faired very well against the powerhouses of the Big 12 this season, so its hard to imagine they got any shot in this one, but there is a good chance they can keep this one around the spread and possibly make this much closer than expected. In their last game against Texas A&M the Bears racked up 510 yards of total offense, with an impressive 269 yards coming on the ground, with Jay Finley leading the way with 116 yards and a touchdown. The passing game wasn’t too bad either, as Robert Griffin threw for 241 yards and 2 scores, and Griffin chipped in another 56 yards on the ground. This unit has to find someway to have that same kind of success this week against a good Texas Tech team, or they are going to find themselves in a big hole early.

Now its hard to expect a lot out of Baylor’s defense this week, as Texas Tech is just too explosive on the offensive side of things, but if they can just grab a turnover here or there, and possibly keep the Red Raiders from scoring touchdowns and forcing field goals, they just might have enough to at least make a game out of this. Now we have a scary feeling that Baylor is coming into play Texas Tech at the absolutely wrong time, as we think the Red Raiders are going to explode on the offensive side of things to make a statement that this team still means business. Now Graham Harrell might of thrown for 361 yards and a score, but the Red Raiders looked like they didn’t even belong on the same field as the Sooners. Now the Red Raiders needed a big game out of Michael Crabtree, and his 6 catches for 62 yards was just not enough from the star receiver. The Red Raiders also needed to be able to run the football, and they just couldn’t get anything going on the ground against the Sooners tough defense. So look out Bears the Red Raiders might just come into this one a little pissed off.

The Red Raiders defense looked awful last week, as there was no way they were stopping the Sooners if needed. Oklahoma had 625 yards of total offense and just pounded the football for 299 yards rushing and Sam Bradford picked apart the secondary for 328 yards, as the Sooners did whatever they pleased. Now Baylor has the talent to put some points on the board, but there is no way they should be able to move the football like Oklahoma. Bet Texas Tech -21.5 at BetUS.com
