BCS Rankings – Week 14

Written November 24, 2008 by Mr. East

MREAST takes his weekly look at the NCAA’s top teams, and an outlook of who will face off in the National Championship game!

The number of 0, and 1 loss teams is now down to 10, as we head down the stretch drive of the NCAA-F season. The ranks of the unbeaten stands at 4 with 3 non-BCS teams still perfect, to go along the sole BCS survivior Alabama. Let’s take a look at the week ahead, as well as the National Championship game, outlook, and prediction.

W. MICHIGAN @ BALL ST. (11-0)

The Cardinals seem to be breezing through the MAC with ease, no reason to believe this will be any different.  Ball State is a 10.5 point favorite at home this week.

TEXAS A&M @ TEXAS (10-1)

The Longhorns caught a jolt of energy with the Red Raiders loss, and will be pumped to lay it on here. No contest!

FRESNO ST. @ BOISE ST. (11-0)

The Big Blue Marble will work its magic, upset probability here slim.

FLORIDA (10-1) @ FLORIDA ST.

Not the same Florida St. teams from when this series was hot and heated, but perhaps enough to keep it close for awhile, but the upset isn’t in the cards here, Gators rolling.

AUBURN @ ALABAMA (11-0)

Tide the most disrespected unbeaten team in the country, will not get surprised here.

OKLAHOMA (10-1) @ OKLAHOMA ST.

Cowboys would love to crash the Sooners BCS party, and have a lot of talent, and get the game at home. Do they have enough? Stay tuned (no comment possible big play in this one).  Oklahoma is a 7 point favorite over Oklahoma State.

NOTRE DAME @ USC (9-1)

Last chance for the Trojans to stand up and get noticed, and they may.

BYES:

UTAH  12-0

TEXAS TECH 10-1

PENN ST. 11-1

A look at the Championship game potential:

The Longhorns moved to number 2, and will likely be going for style points vs A&M. Their margin over Oklahoma is very slim. Sooners get a big game vs OSU and a big performance on the road, could leave the Horns looking in from the outside, despite a win vs the Sooners. let the arguments begin!

Florida vs Alabama is likely going to be about for one of the spots in the Championship game, winner is in, especially if it is Alabama, and Florida would be hard pressed not to move into 1 or 2 with a win over #1 Bama

It basically is down to Alabama,Florida,Texas, and Oklahoma now. I would not be shocked to see the Gators favored against the Tide, which says all you need to know!

I look for a USC vs Penn St. Rose Bowl match up

The big question is will Utah or Boise St. be BCS Busters? It appears with their lofty #6 status that Utah is in. Hard to leave them out, but realistically, put them in the Big-12, and having played Missouri,Oklahoma,Texas,Texas Tech, and Missouri, and they wouldn’t even be in this conversation! Same can be said with Boise St., but it is what it is! Don’t see how Texas Tech can be left out of the top 8, so where does Boise St. stand? On the outside looking in.

National Championship Game Prediction:

FLORIDA  vs OKLAHOMA
