Holt headed to Chicago?
Written February 8, 2010 by Jason Lowry
With the Chicago Bears recent hire of Mike Martz as the teams new offensive coordinator, there are many that believe the Bears will add some much needed help to the receiver corps. According to Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times, the Bears could be interested in Torry Holt, who is expected to be released by the Jacksonville Jaguars sometime this week.
The move would reunite Martz with Holt from their days together with the St Louis Rams. Not only would it give the team a veteran presence in the locker room, it would allow Holt to help the young receivers learn the new system. Though Holt is 33-years-0ld, he seems to have a little left in the tank, and while he isn’t going to put up Pro Bowl type numbers, he can definitely help a team win games.
I think that there is no doubt that the Bears have to go after some more talent at receiver, especially with the rumors going around that Devin Hester wants to go back to focusing on returning kicks. I don’t know that signing Holt would be the best move for the Bears, as it really doesn’t solve anything for the future. Either way keep a close eye on who the Bears go after this offseason, as it will have a big impact on their NFL odds for 2010.
