Chicago Bears vs. Minnesota Vikings NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 28, 2008 by Jason Lowry

After this Sunday’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears there will be just one team atop the crowded NFC North that has seen 3 teams hold down the top spot. With the Packers loss to the Saints last week, the Bears and Vikings used impressive wins to move to 6-5. The Bears demolished the Rams 27-3 and the Vikings beat up on the Jaguars 30-12. For those of you looking to do some NFL betting on this one, the oddsmakers have the Vikings 3 point favorites at home over the Bears at Bookmaker.com
The Bears come into this one having to feel pretty good about their win last week, as they really couldn’t have afforded to lose 3 straight. Matt Forte was pretty much all the Bears needed against the Rams, as the rookie running back ran for 132 yards and 2 scores, as the Bears pounded out over 200 yards on the ground in this one. Kyle Orton was as solid as needed, as he completed 18 of 29 passes for 139 yards and a 7 yard strike to Jason McKie early on as the Bears built a 21-0 lead before the Rams put any points on the board. Last time the Bears played the Vikings they put 48 points on the board, so you know they got confidence they can score this week in Minnesota.
The Bears defense was about as good as it can get last week against the Rams, as they not only held the Rams to just 3 points, they forced 4 interceptions with 5 sacks, as Adewale Ogunleye and Tommie Harris each had two, as the Bears were in the Rams backfield all day long. Now as good as the Bears offense was against the Vikings last time, the Bears defense had its troubles stopping Adrian Peterson, as Peterson ran for 121 yards and 2 scores. Now we think that both teams will score in this one, but we don’t expect either team to get into the 40s this time around. Bet Bears +3 at Bookmaker.com
The Vikings also needed the win they got last week, and even though the Jaguars aren’t playing the best football this season, going on the road and winning is always something to be happy about. Now winning at home this late in the season against a division rival that has already beat you is a must, and that means the Vikings need to day pretty much whatever it takes to beat the Bears this weekend. Last week the Vikings kept Adrian Peterson on the bench to start as part of a disciplinary act, but the star back still ran it 17 times for 80 yards including a 16 yard touchdown run. Gus Frerotte didn’t look very good last week, and last time he played the Bears he threw 4 interceptions, so really all he needs to do is not turn the ball over and the Vikings should walk away on top.
The Vikings defense played pretty good last week as they completely shut down the Jaguars rushing attack, as the duo of Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew had just 24 yards combined, but Jones-Drew did lead the way with 9 receptions for 113 yards, as the Jaguars David Garrard threw for 317 yards, but the Vikings defense did have 3 sacks, 2 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles, as they never let the Jaguars make a game out of it. Last time against the Bears they let Orton throw for 283 yards and 2 scores, but were very solid against the run, holding Forte to just 56 yards on 20 carries. Look for the Vikings to continue their turnover feast they have been having on teams this year, as everyone knows the Bears are prone to make mistakes. Bet Vikings -3 at Bookmaker.com
