Cincinnati Bengals at Dallas Cowboys Football Predictions

Written October 4, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This weekend the Dallas Cowboys not only host the Cincinnati Bengals, but they are also facing some troubles in the clubhouse. It really got ugly after the Cowboys suffered their first loss of the season last week against the Redskins, as talk about TO and getting the football continued to come up in the headlines. This week the team has to find a way to get it together and take care of business, the oddsmakers are thinking that the Cowboys are going to do just that, as BetUS.com has the Cowboys listed as 16 point favorites over the Bengals, with and over/under of 44.

The Bengals continued to keep things close, but really just haven’t been able to put it together on offense so far this season. The offense comes in near the bottom at 26th with 279 yards a game. The thing is the Bengals still have really good players like Carson Palmer, Chad Johnson, and TJ Houshmandzadeh. The thing is Palmer has yet to get it working with Chad Johnson, and its sort of a mystery how a receiver that good can’t get open. Chris Perry continues to be the guy out of the backfield, and he hasn’t been what they expect, getting just 2.9 yards a carry on 72 attempts. This is offense should get better, but its hard telling if it ever will this season.

The Bengals defense has actually been a solid surprise this season, as its really kept the team from getting blown out, and kept them in the game in pretty much all but 1. This week it might now matter how good this defense has been playing, as the Cowboys have one of the best offenses in the league. If this unit can keep the team in it, than mabye they will prove the odds makers wrong in this one. Bet Bengals +16 at BetUS.com

The Cowboys offense had plenty of struggles last week in their loss to the Redskins, as many could tell they were trying way to hard to throw the ball to TO. This not only hurt the passing game, as TO failed to haul in many of the passes thrown to him, but running back Marion Barber barely got the ball, and rookie Felix Jones didn’t rush it once. If the Cowboys are going to be a Super Bowl team this year, they have to get everyone to buy into the fact that the team has to do whatever works best to win the game, whether its through the air or on the ground.

The Cowboys defense continues to worry many, as they continue to make mental mistakes that are just killing this team for big plays. Pacman Jones is looking better and better, and it may not be long before he starts guarding the other teams best receiver. This weekend that secondary will get plenty of attention as the Bengals are known to like to air it out. So this defense will get a good chance to prove to the home fans that there is nothing to worry about. Bet Cowboys -16 at BetUS.com
