Cincinnati Benglas vs. Philadelphia Eagles NFL Betting Odds & Spread
Written November 13, 2008 by Jason Lowry

The Philadelphia Eagles look to keep their playoff hopes alive, and get back into the picture in the NFC East, as their loss last week against the Giants put them in a tie for last in the division with the Cowboys at 5-4. The Eagles will take their show on the road this week, as they get ready to take on the Cincinnati Bengals, who come into this one well rested off their bye week and their first win of the season two weeks ago against the Jaguars. For those of you still looking to make your NFL picks for the weekend, the oddsmakers have the Eagles 9 point favorites on the road over Cincinnati at Bookmaker.com
The Eagles have really struggled to take down the big names this season, as they have only 2 wins over teams with winning records, but they have done a good job of making sure they beat the teams they are suppose to. Last week the offense did a pretty good job against the Giants scoring 30 points and keeping the team in the game, and had they been able to convert the 4th and 1 late in the game they very easily could have walked away from this one winners. McNabb had some troubles throwing the football, as he was just 17 of 36, but was good when it mattered, as he connected with 3 different receivers for touchdowns. The problem wasn’t McNabb, it was the running game that without McNabb’s runs out of the pocket totaled just 71 yards. This unit has to pick it up this week, and we think the Benglas are just the team to make sure that happens.
The Eagles defense did a good job keeping Eli Manning from going off for a big day, as the quarterback had just 191 yards and 2 scores, and one interception, but the problem was the Eagles run defense and the lack of it, as the Giants ran for over 200 yards, with Jacobs leading the way with 126 and two scores. This week they face a Bengals offense that ranks 26th in total offense, gaining just 279 yards a game, so unless the Bengals figured something out over their bye week, they should have plenty of troubles against this unit. The Bengals fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief, after the team was finally able to finish on the good side of the scoreboard. Now the offense got off to a great start with Ryan Fitzpatrick hitting Chad Johnson for a score in both the 1st and 2nd quarter, as the Bengals built a 14-3 halftime lead. The only other score for the Bengals came from newly acquired running back Cedric Benson who ran it 24 times for 104 yards. Now this unit had its drives, but that was about all it had, as they really stalled in the 4th quarter when they had the chance to put this one away. Scoring against the Eagles is not going to be easy, so its likely going to take some big plays and turnover for this team to roll off two straight after losing their first 8.
The Benglas defense played about as good as it possibly could through the first 3 quarters, as they held the Jaguars to just a field goal, but once the 4th quarter hit things started taking an ugly turn for the Bengals, as the Jaguars scored 19 unanswered to put the game at 21-19 with just a little over 1 minute to go. Now the team was able to hold on and take home the victory, but they can’t have lapses like that this weekend against the Eagles, or they will find themselves in a big whole early. With fresh legs at home and a little confidence to go with it, we expect the Bengals to keep this one competitive. Bet Bengals +9 at Bookmaker.com
