Bengals Rams Line

The Cincinnati Bengals will try an stay in the AFC playoff picture when they go on the road to take on the struggling St Louis Rams in week 15. The Bengals allowed the Texans to score a touchdown in the final seconds to fall 19-20 at home. The loss dropped Cincinnati to 7-6 overall, leaving them a full game back of the Jets for the final Wild Card spot. They figure to have a good shot at getting back on track against the Rams. St Louis fell 13-30 at Seattle on Monday Night Football. It was the Rams fourth straight loss, who come in just 2-10 on the year.

Taking a look at the week 15 spreads, oddsmakers currently have the Bengals favored by 6-points over the Rams with the total set at 38.5 points.

Cincinnati Bengals:

The Bengals chances of making the playoffs took a huge hit with their 4th quarter collapse against the Texans. Cincinnati went into the final period with a 19-10 lead, but couldn’t make a defensive stand when they needed it the most. The loss leaves Cincinnati needing some help to get to the playoffs. Even if the Bengals win their final three games, there is no guarantee they get in.

In all reality the Bengals were very fortunate to even have a 9-point lead going into the fourth quarter. Houston turned the ball over four times, including a huge fumble just outside of the endzone. Offensively the Bengals managed just 285 yards the entire game.

Andy Dalton hooked up with Jerome Simpson for a 17-yard touchdown late in the first half, but would end up finishing the game just 16 of 28 for 189 yards. Cedric Benson rushed for 91 yards on just 21 attempts, but most of that game on a 42-yard run.

The offense should have a much easier time moving the ball against the Rams this week. St Louis gave up 359 yards of total offense to a mediocre Seattle offense in their last game. Cincinnati figures to have a lot of success running the ball, as the Rams feature the league’s worst run defense, allowing 156.8 ypg.

St Louis Rams:

It has been an extremely difficult season for the Rams and it doesn’t figure to get any better over the final three weeks. After facing the Bengals at home on Sunday, they have to go on the road to face the Steelers and then finish up the year against the 49ers, who just beat them 26-0 back in week 13.

The Rams offense struggled to get anything going against the Seahawks defense, and when they did they had to settle for field goals. Sam Bradford returned to the lineup, but didn’t look sharp at all. Bradford went just 12 of 29 for 193 yards with an interception. Steven Jackson and Cadillac Williams combined for 112 yards and a touchdown on the ground, but it wasn’t enough to keep them in the game.

I have a hard time seeing the Rams offense having a whole lot of success against a pissed off Cincinnati defense. The Bengals come in ranked 11th against the pass (214.8 ypg) and 7th against the run (100.0 ypg).

Betting Trends:

Cincinnati is 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 road games.

St Louis is 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games following a SU loss of more than 14 points.
