Bernard Hopkins (48-4-1, 32KOs) +180 at Sportsbook.com

This 43-year-old fighter is one of the best middleweight champions to ever step foot in the ring. During his time as a middleweight he beat the names of Felix Trinidad and Oscar De La Hoya. But what might have been even more impressive was when Hopkins moved to light heavyweight and was able to beat Antonio Tarver in June of 2006. After a short retirement Hopkins defeated former light middleweight champion Ronald “Winky”Wright in July of 2007. This is the last fight Hopkins has had leading up to his fight against Calzaghe. Other than holding numerous middleweight champions and the Right Light Heavyweight with his win against Tarver, Hopkins has been name the pound for pound # 1 Boxer in 2004-2005 and Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year in 2001.

Joe Calzaghe (44-0, 32KOs) -230 at Sportsbook.com

This 35-year-old Super Middleweight Champion is a machine in the ring and in order to fight Hopkins will be making his first attempt at fighting as a light heavyweight. The man known as “The Pride of Wales” will also be making his first trip to fight in the United States. He has been unbeatable in the ring and is currently riding a record-tying streak of 21 straight super middleweight title defenses. His last fight came against Mikkle Kessler in November of last year for the unification of the WBO,WBA,WBC, and Ring Magazine super middleweight titles. Calzaghe was able to win by unanimous decision and became the first undisputed super middle champion of the world. With age the knockouts have gone down, to start his career he knocked out 21 of his first 22 opponents. While in his last 20 fights, he has only been able to knockout 9 of them.

Winner: Joe Calzaghe -230 at Sportsbook.com

If only this fight had been earlier on when both these fighters were knock out specialist and at any moment could send their opponent to the floor. While this fight is still going to be close and will likely go the distance. We like the younger Calzaghe here to take home the victory and continue his unbeaten career. We really don’t see a knockout happening here, but we do see Calzaghe winning by unanimous decision.
