The 134th running of the Kentucky Derby is set to get underway on May 3rd and will have much of America glued to the screen for the most entertaining horse race of the year. It’s the first of three races that are included in the Triple Crown, which is much like the Grand Slam of Golf. So just like the Masters the only person with a shot is the guy who wins first. Coa is set to Ride Big Truck at the derby, and while you probably haven’t heard much about this horse, it makes him a legit threat to be the surprise horse of the race.
Kent Desormeaux
Here is a big name jockey that is riding a big name horse this weekend. Desormeaux is riding the favorite this weekend in Big Brown, and the fact that he will be on the horses back, probably has a lot to do with Big Brown being the horse to beat. Desormeaux has a career winning total over $1,900,000 and has racked up a career total of 38 first place finishes. With this great combo of jockey and horse, makes them the tandem to beat this weekend.
Edgar Prado
Prado comes in at 6th on the career money list, and has 38 career 1st place finishes, so you know that this guy has a chance when he gets up on the horse. Prado like Gomez is riding one of the sleepers this weekend in Adriano. Many times people try and find a good sleeper that will end up being worth the bet, and the best place to look is the guy on the horses back.
Shaun Bridgmohan
Bridgmohan is another big time jockey that is racing this weekend. As he is currently 8th on the career money list, and has a very impressive 46 first place finishes and 31 second place finishes. What really makes Bridgmohan one of the favorites to win this weekend, is that he is riding one of the better horses in Pyro. Pyro currently has the 3rd best odds to win the race, and will be a real threat to everyone come race time.
