Every year the weeks prior to the Super Bowl are full of amazing stories that catch the eyes of almost every sports fan. Whether it be an injured player coming back to play when no one expects them to, or a teams improbable run to the final game. These stories are followed closely during the game and many times create some of the most unforgettable moments in sports history. This year we have stories such as Tom Brady’s injured toe and just how bad it really is. Say Brady has a huge game and you later find out he did it all with a broken bone, well that makes for one amazing moment. We also have the story of a usual name in Manning, just this time its not Peyton, it’s the unproven younger brother Eli. Will Eli continue his remarkable play and lead the Giants to an amazing upset, or will he stumble under the pressure of the biggest game of his career? These are just a couple of stories from this year’s Super Bowl that some day might be one of the greatest moments ever in Super Bowl History. While we won’t know the answer to that for another week, lets take a look at 5 amazing moments in Super Bowl History.

Last Minute Magic

Some of the best moments come when your team is against the wall and time is against you. In Super Bowl XXIII the San Francisco 49ers were down 16-13 to the Cincinnati Bengals with nearly 3 minutes to play. The 49ers got the ball on their 3 yard line and led by one of the best post-season quarter backs of all time, Joe Montana led the team 97 yards for the winning touchdown. There was no next week if they lose this was do or die, and the 49ers did the improbable by driving almost the whole field on a defense that had pretty much held them in check the whole game.

4th times a charm

The Denver Broncos came into XXXII against the Green Bay Packers as 12pt underdogs and were given little to no chance to take down the defending champs. The Broncos might not have been the most talented team on the field that day, but they had a quarterback who wanted it more than anyone else. John Elway had already let 3 chances slip by him in previous Super Bowls, but this year he wasn’t going to let that happen. Elway scored one of the most remarkable touchdowns in Super Bowl History when he dived in the end zone and collided with two Packer defenders before crossing the goal line. The Broncos won the game and Elway finally was able to win the big game.

Pats Upset Rams

Back in Super Bowl XXXVI the New England Patriots came against the high-powered offense of the St Louis Rams.  The Rams were suppose to come in and demolish the Pats, but with the score tied at 17 and little time remaining, the Pats drove down and set up a game winning field goal. Adam Vinatieri came in and nailed a 48-yard field goal to secure the game. What makes this moment so great is that a team with no chance to win came in and surprised the world. While many people were rooting for Pats to win back then, many will be rooting against them this year.

What a Finish

Super Bowl XXXIV was witness to two of the greatest moments and maybe the best ending every to a Super Bowl.  The St. Louis Rams and the Tennessee Titans were all tied with 2:05 remaining, before Kurt Warner hit Isaac Bruce for a 73-yard touchdown. While many thought that was game Tennessee wasn’t going to go down with a fight. The Titans drove the field and on the last play from scrimmage got the ball all the way to the 1-yard line. Kevin Dyson caught the ball and was fighting for the end zone before he was shut down just right in front of the goal line. One other great story that went along with this game was Kurt Warner going from a guy stalking groceries in Iowa, to the Super Bowl MVP.

Allen dashes 74-yards

To finish up we are going to give credit to one of the best plays to ever take place in a Super Bowl. Marcus Allen of the Oakland Raiders makes an amazing 74-yard touchdown run against the Washington Redskins. While the score was already out of hand or this might have been higher up on our list. Allen took a pitch and began running right into a crowd of Redskins, next thing you know Allen makes a sweet cut towards the inside and takes it all the way for a touchdown. Allen went on to rush for 191-yards and MVP honors of Super Bowl XVIII.
