Billups Will Miss Two More Games With Groin Injury

Written December 27, 2009 by Jason Lowry

The Denver Nuggets could be without their star point guard for a couple more games, as ESPN is reporting that Chauncey Billups will sit out the Nuggets next two games to try and heal up a nagging strained left groin. Billups injured his shoulder in Houston and was unable to go the following three games.

The Nuggets have not fared well with Billups on the sidelines, dropping three of their last four games, including a Christmas Day showdown with the Portland Trailblazers, where Billups tried playing early, but was unable to participate in the second half. The Nuggets host the Dallas Mavericks tonight, and follow up with a road game in Sacramento Monday night.

With a four daybreak after the back-to-back games, the Nuggets are hoping that Billups will be ready to go. The Nuggets have put together a solid 20-10 start to the 2009 season, and Billups is a big reason for that. Still the goal here has to be getting Billups healthy, so that this injury doesn’t bother him for the rest of the season, as the Nuggets have no shot at coming out of the west without their star point guard.

Taking a quick look at the NBA spreads, oddsmakers are not thinking that the loss of Billups will be that big of a factor when the Nuggets host the Mavericks tonight, as Denver comes in 5.5 point favorites. Find out if our expert handicappers think the spread is a little high, in our daily NBA picks.
