Binions Casino in Las Vegas
February 18, 2008
Binion’s Casino in Las Vegas was once one of the most popular destination spots in Sin City. In 2006, Harrah’s purchases the casino almost entirely based on the fact that Binion’s was the founder of the World Series of Poker. This event has gone crazy in terms of popularity with the recent growth in poker in general but more specifically with the amount of players that are now playing online. Harrah’s did not want to hold on to the casino property located in the heart of downtown Vegas on Freemont Street, so they sold the casino, minus the rights to the World Series. You can still play live games and tournaments in the original poker room, which is famous for being the place where all the hype and glory of the World Series started. You can get $2 per hour in comp dollars with no daily max. They offer $2/4 to $10/20 Limit Hold’em, $1/2 to $2/5 blinds in No-Limit Hold’em and $4/8 Omaha 8 or better on a day-to-day basis. You can also quality for free rolls just by spending enough time in the poker room. The Binion’s Wall of Fame is still located in the poker room and you can see some of the greats that have played on won on the same floor that you will be vying to steal pots away from the competitors on.
Since the casino is located down on Fremont Street you can enjoy lower rates on rooms, great odds, and a different environment than you will back on the Strip. If you are out in Las Vegas to do more gambling and to avoid some of the limelight and hoopla that the Strip provides then this is one of our favorite places in downtown. You can get great deals on the hotel by going with a group as well.
