UFC 89 Bisping vs. Leben Odds & Predictions
Written October 11, 2008 by Jason Lowry

Saturday October 18th the UFC will be in full force as it heads to the heart of the UK for UFC 89. Normally fans are forced to order these events through pay-per-view, but SPIKE TV will be hosting the fight, meaning many of you can watch this one for free. Don’t worry about a weak fight card either, as there are some really good fights going on. The headliner has Michael Bisping taking on Chris Leben and close behind is the fight between Keith Jardine and Brandon Vera. Though there are more than just the two big fights, we are going to just focus on those two, as we look at each fight and give you our prediction.
Michael Bisping (17-1) vs. Chris Leben(18-4)
Bisping -250
Leben +200
Since dropping down to fight middleweight at 185 Bisping has really looked good beating both Jason Day and Charles McCarthy by TKO. Bisbing’s strength in the octagon is his standup, but this kid really has everything you need to be a great fighter in the UFC. He has that ability to adapt to any fight, and need we mention this guy just looks like a machine out there. All that strength and fitness can go for nothing if Chris Leben is able to land one of his devastating knockout punches. After losing two straight Leben has responded with two wins over Alessio Sakara and Terry Martin, but if Leben wants to really get some recognition he needs to win this fight against a big name fighter. Another good thing about Leben is he has the ability to really take a blow, and that will likely be put to the test against Bisping. Though Leben has the ability to win this fight, we think Bisping is going to come out causing havoc in his home country and put on a show for the fans.
Winner: Michael Bisping -250 at Bookmaker.com
Keith Jardine (13-5-1) vs. Brandon Vera(9-2)
Jardine +155
Vera -195
This fight also has a fighter trying to do some damage at a lower weight class, and that guy is Brandon Vera who was once considered one of the top heavyweights in the game and now is trying to cause chaos at light heavyweight. Vera is coming off a unanimous decision win over Reese Andy, and looks primed to make a run at light heavyweight. That will be put to the test this weekend as Keith Jardine is known for coming up big against some big time fighters. Jardine has already taken out the names of guys like Chuck Liddell and Forrest Griffin, but Jardine has really struggled putting together a string of good fights. Though Vera comes in as the favorite in this one, we are going with the minor upset in this one, as we feel Jardine is going to land some serious punches and send Vera to the ground.
Winner: Keith Jardine +155
