Blackjack Strategy Guide
February 18, 2008
A blackjack strategy guide is needed for all beginners who are interested in trying the game. We want to make sure that you have the best chance possible at winning at the tables and building your bankroll up and we are going to get started with the lessons with this article. Blackjack is one of the most popular table games in the United States and the rest of the world. You can be aggressive with your betting all the while making subtle moves with strategy to help increase your winning percentage. If you know all of the angles, have a solid money management system, and learn all of the tips and tricks then you can turn the house edge around and possibly leave yourself with the advantage.
The first part of our blackjack strategy guide is to learn how to count cards. There is really no reason to not learn how to count cards because you can only increase your chances of winning. We didn’t want to get you too bogged down right away, so we are trying to use the simplest method possible in order to get you off on the right start. Start out with a count of 0, then every time a 2,3,4,5, or 6 shows up on the table for any of the players, including the dealer, then you will mentally give that total a +1 for each card. Whenever you see a 10, Jack, Queen, King, or Ace then you are going to want to -1 from the total for each of those cards. Whenever the count is positive, that means the player has the advantage since there are more high cards in the deck. If the number is negative, then the house has the advantage. Card counting in this fashion isn’t hard to learn, and if you want practice then you can try our free blackjack game.
Now what do you do with your count, well the simplest way to take advantage is to bet more when the count is positive and bet less when the house is at a disadvantage. However, we get a little bit more complex with our betting system. If we win and there is a positive count, then we up our bet to two units. If we lose that bet, we return to one unit bets, however, if we win and the count is still positive then we bump up to three units. We keep progressing on this system until we either lose or the count is no longer positive, in either case we return to one unit bets.
