Toronto Blue Jays at Texas Rangers Odds & Picks
Written June 11, 2009 by Jordan Haimowitz
The Blue Jays have come into Texas and have taken the first two games of the series. At 34-27 I am stunned at how well the Jays have bounced back from their series debacle against the Sox and Yankees. Yesterday was a 9-0 drubbing they laid on the Rangers as Adam Lind and Aaron Hill continue to play like all stars. Lind this season has 12 home runs and 45 RBIs while hitting .315. Hill has 14 homers and 43 RBIs along with his .304 batting average. What really amazes me is that this team is able to perform well when their two most talented players in Alex Rios and Vernon Wells are not having good seasons. Marco Scutaro has been another surprising face that has played real well. On the pitching side, Ricky Romero is 3-2 with a 4.10 ERA. The young rookie has not seemed to struggle at all in big spots yet. Tonight though I see him having a rough time. Not only will he be facing a Texas team that will be hungry for a win, his ERA on the road is 4.75. Perhaps Rios can wake up and play big tonight. This is a guy that has all star caliber stuff with 30-30 potential easily. Today’s baseball odds show the Rangers -157 against the Blue Jays with a total set at 10 runs.
The Rangers have seem to hit a small skid. After winning two of three in Boston, they have dropped the first two games of the series at home against Toronto. The hitting has been non existent through the first two games while the pitching has gotten tagged. Look for both of those things to swing the other way tonight. Marlon Byrd, Hank Blalock and Chris Davis all have 25+ RBIs while Nelson Cruz and Ian Kinsler each have 40+ RBIs. Cruz has also added 17 home runs while Kinsler has 15 himself. Hitting will not be a problem tonight at all as this game is set up for a Rangers route. Kevin Millwood is the starter tonight for Texas. He has bounced back this year so far with great numbers. A 5-4 record and 2.96 ERA is what Millwood brings to the table. At home this year he is 3-1 with a 2.59 ERA. In his only start against Toronto this year he went seven innings allowing four runs while picking up the loss. He will get his revenge tonight and pitch very well. Look for Kinsler to be the player of the game and set the tone early. Rangers should win this game by a decent amount.
Haimo’s Hot Notes: The Blue Jays are 2-9 in their last 11 road games. The Rangers are 6-2 in their last eight games following a loss. Toronto is 6-2 against the Rangers in their last eight games against one another. Rangers run line tonight is the play. While I like this game a lot we will put a small play only on it as my policy with run lines is better safe then sorry.
Jordan’s Picks: Texas Rangers -1.5 (+120)
The BEST BET streak has reached five wins in a row as the Tigers won 2-1 yesterday and basically played the game as i said they would. while it was only a one run game if you watched it live like I did it was never a doubt who would come out victorious. We split the Baltimore/Seattle double as we hit the UNDER but missed on the O’s. Bad breaks combined with Felix pitching great. Overall another big profit day as we look tonight to continue our BEST BET streak. Make sure to come to Jordan with Betfirms for all your picks and as always, comments are encouraged.
