Bodog Sportsbook Gets Primary Domain Back
Written June 10, 2009 by Jack Jones
A little over a year-and-a-half ago, the popular online sportsbook, poker room, and casino, Bodog.com, was taken down due to a patent dispute with software company, 1st Technology in 2007. The prolonged court process caused Bodog, owned by Morris Mohawk Gaming Group (MMGG), to refocus their brand on a new domain, BodogLife.com. In late April of this year, it was announced that group had regained control of their primary domain. For the first few months after the announcement, the domain Bodog.com was still re-directing to the Bodoglife.com site, however, we are pleased to announce that Bodog.com is now fully operational.
The temporary loss of the their main domain put a significant dent in the book’s poker room, having once been rated as one of the top 10 largest online, falling last year to 15th, likely due to players being unable to find the site they knew as Bodog.com. MMGG is hoping that the reacquisition of their more recognizable site will put them back among the elite companies in the online gaming industry. Getting their domain back took almost 2 years and cost them millions of dollars in business, but hopefully it will be well worth the wait. We’ve stuck with Bodog throughout the ordeal, simply because we’ve always liked their operation, and their site. Even with the conversion to BodogLife, you still got great lines on underdog and we found (and still find) their user interface to be one of the easiest to use on the web.
