Boise State at Lousiana Tech College Football Odds

Written November 3, 2009 by Kyle Hunter

The Boise State Broncos are still undefeated and they still have high hopes of possibly crashing the BCS party again this year. Obviously the biggest goal they have is to play in the title game, which could still happen, but they will probably need some help and they have to win out. The football picks and the projections for the future show Boise State will likely slip in the BCS rankings in the coming weeks because of a weak overall schedule, especially inside their own conference. The next team in the way of the Broncos and an undefeated regular season is the Lousiana Tech Bulldogs. Boise State started the season in impressive fashion by beating the Oregon Ducks, a win that is looking better and better every week. Since then Boise State has gone about their business and moved to 8-0. The Broncos haven’t even been tested very much at all of late. Kellen Moore has has an absolutely tremendous sophomore season at quarterback for Boise State. Moore has completed over 67% of his passes on the season and has a stunning 24/2 touchdowns to interceptions ratio. Though Moore is a young player he is clearly the leader for the Broncos offense. Jeremy Avery is the main threat at running back. Avery has explosive speed and can bust a big run quickly if given a chance. Austin Pettis and Titus Young both have 41 receptions and are the two favorite targets of Kellen Moore when Boise State throws the football. The Broncos defense is a much improved unit from a year ago. The defense is allowing a little less than 14 points a game and just 274 yards per game. Though it can often be lost in the shuffle the special teams units at Boise are terrific as well, with Kyle Brotzman providing the team with a very good kicker and punter.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have had more than their fair share of tough losses of late. In the past two weekends they have lost road contests by two points and a single point. This week they return home where they are unbeaten this season, but they have to play anyone even close to as talented as this Boise State team. The bread and butter of this Bulldog football team is their ability to run the football. Daniel Porter has carried the ball 124 times and has an average of 5.2 yards per carry this season. Quarterback Ross Jenkins has done a pretty good job moving the team, often throwing short and safe passes and taking good control of the football. Phillip Livas is an exceptional kick and punt returner for the Bulldogs. The defense has fared well against the pass, but has struggled mightily against the run this season.

The NCAA football odds for this week show the Boise State Broncos to be a 21 point road favorite in this game. The Broncos are 9-2 against the spreadĀ in their last 11 games as a road favorite. The Bulldogs are 5-0 against the spread in their last 5 home games. Boise State is 4-1 against the spread in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

The NCAA football picks from the experts will undoubtedly be heavily toward Boise State, and for good reason. Boise State is a complete football team that has shown no signs of slowing down this year. Look for the Broncos to move the ball at will and force the Bulldogs to try to beat them by throwing the football.
