Boise State at Utah State Odds

The Boise State Broncos are still pushing hard for a BCS berth, but the more impressive TCU looks every week the less likely it is that Boise State will get a trip to a BCS game. Don’t expect the Broncos to stop trying to impress the pollsters and the representatives from the BCS bowls now though, since there is still time for anything to happen. This Friday they get the spotlight in a game against a 3-7 Utah State Aggie team.
The Boise State Broncos have done all you could ask them to do. They have won every game on their schedule this year and sit at 10-0 on the year. The unquestioned leader of the offense is quarterback Kellen Moore, who has some of the most impressive statistics in all of college football. Moore has thrown for 2,558 yards and 32 touchdowns, while throwing only 3 interceptions in 10 games. His completion percentage of 67.4% is one of the best in the nation. Jeremy Avery is the main tailback for Boise State and he can take it the distance any time he gets his hands on the football. Avery is averaging 5.9 yards per carry so far this season. Austin Pettis and Titus Young form a terrific receiving duo on the outside. Pettis has caught 14 touchdowns and Young has brought in 9 touchdowns on the season. Young is also a nice weapon returning kick offs for the Broncos. The Boise State defense has been good all year, although they haven’t played quite as well on the road as they have at home.
The Utah State Aggies have played a whole lot of close games this season, but they have come up on the short end in most of them. Quarterback Diondre Borel is a very talented player who has shown his skillset this season. Borel has thrown for 13 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions. Borel also has the ability to beat you running the football. In the backfield the Aggies have Robert Turbin, who has been tremendous on the season. Turbin has rushed for 1,122 yards and 6.6 yards per carry on the season. There is no single big play threat at wide receiver, but they have six players with at least 15 receptions on the season. The Aggies defense has been a real problem, especially the run defense. The Aggies are giving up more than 200 yards a game on the ground and 31 points per game.
The lines for this game show Boise State as a 23 point road favorite. The posted total has been set at 62 points. If you are looking to make picks on this game consider the fact that Boise State is 8-1-2 against the spread in their last 11 against Utah State, but Utah State is 8-1 against the spread in their last 9 home games. The over is 4-1 in their last 5 meetings.
I look to see both teams be able to move the football, but Boise State should come ready to play in what they know is one of their last chances to show the nation what they are made of.
Got something to say?
