Fresno State vs. Boise State Football Betting Odds & Spread

Written November 25, 2008 by Jason Lowry

This Friday the No.9 ranked Boise State Broncos will look to keep their perfect season alive and shot at playing in a BCS Bowl game alive when they take on the 7-4 Fresno State Bulldogs. This will be the final game for both teams who should be headed for Bowl Games this season, but there is no question which team it matters most to. Last week the Broncos nearly seen their magical season come to an end, but were able to squeak out a 41-34 win on the road over Nevada. The Bulldogs had a little easier time taking care of business, as they went into San Jose State and took home a 24-10 victory. For those of you looking to do a little NCAA football betting this Friday, the oddsmakers have Boise State 21 point favorites over Fresno State at Bookmaker.com

Now Fresno State might not be on the same level as the Broncos, but there is no question if things go their way, they can come out of this one with a big upset. Last week against San Jose State the Bulldogs found themselves in a early whole, as they were down 10-3 going into the 2nd half, but got a huge momentum builder when Chastin West tied the game on a 49 yard punt return for a touchdown. Anthony Harding then scored the Bulldogs final two touchdown on runs from 8 and 21 yards, as Harding wound up running for 99 yards on 17 carries. Quarterback Tom Brandstater did not have his best day throwing the football, as he was just 5 of 18 for 71 yards with an interception. If the Bulldogs or going to win or even keep this one close at all, Brandstater has to improve on his play, or Boise State will run away with this one.

The Bulldogs defense really did a good job of getting it together after they let San Jose State jump off to an early 7-0 lead, as they gave up just 3 points the rest of the way, and completely shut them down in the 2nd half. San Jose State had just 200 yards of total offense, and that was mainly due to the fact that the Bulldogs completely shut down the running game, as the Spartans ran it 31 times for a -5 yards. Now shutting down the Broncos offense won’t be so easy, but a couple turnovers could really even things out in this one. Bet Fresno State +21 at Bookmaker.com

The Broncos needed everything it had last week, as Nevada would simply not go way in this one. The Broncos jumped to an early 24-3 lead going into the 2nd half, but the Wolfpack scored 21 in the 3rd quarter to make it just a 7 point game. Now the star for the Broncos in this one was easily quarterback Kellen Moore who threw for 414 yards and 3 scores. Now as good as Moore was, he did have 3 big interceptions, as the Broncos actually lost the turnover battle 4 to 0. Now they were able to pull off the win this week, but another shaky performance like that this week against Fresno State and its likely voters will be less tempted to throw these guys in the mix with the big conferences.
