Boston College vs. Florida State Football Betting Odds & Spread

With so many teams bunched together in the ACC, its still pretty much anyones for the taking. This week in the Atlantic division the No.20 ranked Florida State Seminoles look to stay at least tied atop the division with a big win against the Boston College Eagles at home this Saturday. The thing is the Eagles actually hold their future in their hands, if they can win out against Florida State, Wake Forest, and Maryland they would wind up the division champs. Its a very tough road for the Eagles, but if anything they play a huge part on deciding who does wind up the champs in this division. The oddsmakers think the Seminoles will walk away with the big win in this one, as Florida State comes in 6.5 point favorites over BC at Bookmaker.com

We have already mentioned that the Eagles need a lot to go their way, but if they put on 3 more performances like they did against the Fighting Irish last week, then we like their chances. The Eagles made easy work of Notre Dame last week winning by way of shutout 17-0. Now the offense wasn’t anything special, as they were out gained by nearly 50 yards in this one, and had just 79 yards through the air. But they used the Irish’s turnovers and sloppy play to get enough points on the board to win the game. The Eagles will likely need a little more out of the offense this week, as the Seminoles have been putting plenty of points on the board of late.

Now we already mentioned the Eagles used turnovers to win the game against the Irish last week, but we didn’t tell you about all the trouble they gave Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen, as they allowed Clausen to complete just 26 of 46 passes, while picking off the guy 4 times. Paul Anderson took one of those interceptions back 76 yards for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter when the game was just 3-0 BC. The Eagles also forced a fumble and blocked a punt in this one, and if they continue to create turnovers like this every week, it would be hard for any team to lose. Now don’t think we are counting out Florida State in this one, cause we think the Seminoles have just as good of shot as the Eagles of winning this one, and we actually think the Seminoles have the talent to put this one away early at home. Last week they had a battle with Clemson for nearly the entire game, as they never led by more than 7 points till the end of the game where they scored to go up by a final of 41-27, so its easy to see why we think the game this week can go either way. Against Clemson the Seminoles dominated the ground game running it 36 times for 266 yards. The two main contributors were Jermaine Thomas who had 94 yards, and Antone Smith, who had 57 yards and 2 scores. Quarterback Christian Ponder was solid yet again, as the quarterback threw for 153 and a score, plus he ran it 10 times for 30 yards and another score. Look for the Seminoles to try and wear down the Eagles in this one, and hope they can again run away with it late.

The Seminoles defense didn’t play at the level expected by many, but it still was enough to win the football game. They shutdown the Tigers rushing attack allowing just 79 yards on 36 carries, and helped out the offense when Neefy Moffett took an interception back 18 yards for a touchdown. The defense also forced a fumble in this one, and allowed Clemson to complete just 2-15 third down conversions. Look for another strong outing from this unit at home again this week, as this team tries to get the Seminoles back in the BCS picture. Bet Florida State – 6.5 at Bookmaker.com
